Simrad Launches Satellite TV System

Friday, May 09, 2003
Simrad, a world leader in marine electronics is to launch a brand new, highly developed satellite TV system for use on leisure vessels of all sizes. The TV45, TV46 and TV60 antennas offer unparalleled picture quality even in the harshest of conditions and areas where satellite reception is at its poorest. The three different sized deck mounted domes available are able to receive all major television channels almost anywhere on water. Whether at berth in the marina or hundreds of miles from land, seafarers can get crystal clear reception on channels ranging from MTV and HBO to CNN and the BBC. In fact, all three antennas in the TV system are as powerful and functional as home satellite TV systems. Choosing an antenna depends on where you are sailing and what type of boat you are sailing in. The TV45 is suitable for use on slower vessels in areas with strong satellite signals whereas the TV46 features a faster antenna follow up speed, making it ideal for faster craft. The TV60 is designed for areas of week satellite signal but will offer outstanding performance and clear pictures even at high vessel speed. Electronic Beam Forming (EBF) technology makes it possible for the Simrad TV antennas to offer interference free pictures. Superlative tracking speeds and accuracy are derived from an 80 times per second update received directly from the target satellite, meaning antenna motion pre-empts picture deterioration. The marine satellite television market is ever growing but the Simrad TV system offers several unique advantages. Unlike many other systems available, no external compass is needed due to the satellite tracking abilities of EBF. The antenna is also cable free internally. Other units need to rewind every few turns in order to free cable, which can negate reception quality. With no need to free the cable, Simrad TV antennas offer a clearer picture at all times. The lightweight antennas require just a single power cable and coax cable externally, making them easy to install. In addition, the TV system is very user friendly with a simple control unit and remote control (for use on antenna and control unit). A free choice of satellites is available through ‘Sat Fingerprint’ and up to four satellite positions can be stored to the control unit allowing for the quick selection of channels and programs. The TV45, TV46 and TV60 antenna systems offer an unmatched television viewing experience with easy installation, simple operation and crisp, clear pictures. Always at the forefront of technology, Simrad has also ensured that the need for future upgrade is negated as all three antennas are prepared for high-speed internet download. All three systems are available through Simrad dealers now.
