Thrane & Thrane is launched a new and enhanced feature for the maritime Fleet77 products: a new 128 kbps ISDN capability that effectively doubles the data speed on the Fleet77 systems. Thrane & Thrane expects this enhancement – a single, dedicated 128 kbps ISDN channel – to be available on all existing Fleet77 systems during Q1 2005.

The upgrade will provide users at sea with a single, integrated terminal platform delivering 128 kbps mobile ISDN data and up to 64 kbps Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS) capabilities, as well as voice and Group 3 & 4 fax services. The 128 kbps ISDN combined with the MPDS always on capacity will enable customers with high traffic volumes and those requiring higher data rates to achieve the optimal, cost efficient “office at sea”.

The 128 kbps upgrade will enable full use of dataheavy applications such as: fast remote network access; fast access IP services via ISDN dial-up; video conferencing; ship Management applications; on-line chart-and-weather information; and vessel telemetry.
