UN Security Council – Restrictions Due to Nuclear Activities

Tuesday, March 04, 2008
The United Nations Security Council said that it approved a new round of sanctions against Iran for refusing to suspend uranium enrichment and heavy-water-related activities. Among other things, the new resolution calls on all States, in accordance with domestic and international law, to inspect cargoes to or from Iran of aircraft and vessels at their airports and seaports owned or operated by Iran Air Cargo and the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line, provided there is reasonable cause to believe that the aircraft or vessel is transporting goods prohibited by Security Council resolutions.
