USCG Sponsors National Maritime Salvage Conference

Friday, November 02, 2001
The U.S. Coast Guard's 13th District is co-sponsoring the National Maritime Salvage Conference 2002, to be held on Jan. 16 and 17, in Seattle, Wash.

Joining the Coast Guard as event co-sponsors are: United States Navy Supervisor of Salvage and Diving, American Salvage Association, Foss Maritime, Foss Environmental, Crowley Marine Services, King County Bar Association, Titan Marine LLC, Water Quality Insurance Syndicate, Global Diving and Salvage, Canflex USA Inc., Marine Response Alliance LLC, the Law Office of Kevin Beauchamp Smith, and American Hull Insurance Syndicate.

The national scope of this event will bring together maritime representatives, public and private, from all corners of the country, fostering an exchange of information and perspectives for the purpose of improving future salvage operations. The event's agenda has been broadly drawn to include issues facing the salvage industry, such as contracting, environmental law, legal and insurance coverage issues amongst hull, P&I, pollution, cargo and excess liability underwriters (including war and terrorist risk), public affairs, etc. These and other pressures that influence government and private responders to marine salvage incidents in their decision making processes and the structure of the incident and unified command systems will be addressed at the Conference.

The Conference tuition for non-government registrants is $200.00. Tuition includes the seminar presentations, written materials, and continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon coffee breaks both days.

For more information on this event, or to register, contact Scott Knutson, phone (206) 220-7219, sknutson@pacnorwest.uscg.mil or Richard Fairbanks, phone (954) 929-5200 or visit the conference website: http://www.uscg.mil/d13/m/seattlesalvage2002.htm
