Cummins and Danfoss Partner on Hybrid Propulsion Solutions

Cummins announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Danfoss Power Solutions’ Editron division to partner in bringing a unique standard hybrid marine solution to the global maritime market.“This partnership is another step forward in Cummins’ Destination Zero strategy – our plan to reach net zero emissions across our products by 2050,” said Rachel Bridges, Global Marine Director, Cummins Inc. The respective products of Cummins and Danfoss’ are an ideal match, because both companies are focused on energy optimization, efficiency, and clean solutions.

Cummins Introduces New EPA Tier 4 Engine

Cummins Inc. launched the QSK60 EPA Tier 4 / IMO III at Cummins Marine’s virtual showcase on Wednesday, April 14. The new EPA Tier 4 compliant selective catalytic reduction (SCR) aftertreatment system is being paired with the QSK60 engine to address the impact of stricter emissions regulations on commercial marine markets in North America. The new system mitigates downtime and improves total cost of ownership, the manufacturer said. “For a lot of customers in the marine market, uptime is their biggest concern,” said Eddie Brown, market segment leader for Cummins Marine.

GE to Supply Propulsion Systems for MARAD's New Training Ships

GE’s Power Conversion business has been awarded a $40 million contract to supply the power and propulsion systems for two National Security Multi-Mission Vessels (NSMV). Cummins Unveils New EPA Tier 3 Marine Generator

Cummins Inc. has expanded the power range of its U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 3 certified marine generator product line. Cummins will now feature a new Onan Marine QD series generator with a power range of 40 kWe to 65 kWe, offering customers reduced emissions with the quietest operation in the industry, according to the manufacturer. The series’ expanded power range was announced during the Miami International Boat Show, and comes as recreational vessels are requiring more electrical capacity to power increasing house loads.

Marine Propulsion Market Poised for Growth -Report

The marine propulsion engine market was valued at $9 billion in 2015 and is projected to reach $12 billion by 2022, growing at a CAGR of 4.1 percent from 2016 to 2022, according to a new report published by Allied Market Research. Diesel propulsion system segment is expected to maintain its dominance throughout the forecast period. Asia-Pacific accounted for the highest share of 51 percent in 2015, and is anticipated to maintain this trend. Increase in production and sales of ships globally and rise in international seaborne trade drives the market growth.

Cummins Delivers First QSK95 Engines

Manufacturer of diesel engines and generator sets for the marine industry Cummins Inc. said it recently delivered the first four QSK95 engines for a marine application, with four additional units to be delivered in December. The engines were delivered to longtime Cummins partner SEACOR Marine Holdings Inc. for installation into a 57-meter catamaran crewboat designed by Incat Crowther. “We are extremely excited to be working with SEACOR Marine to launch the first QSK95 marine engines,” said Jim Schacht, Executive Director - Marine Market, Cummins Inc.

Cummins Opens Logistics Hub in Singapore

Cummins Inc. opened a global logistics hub in Singapore yesterday, one of the company's eight master distribution centers for parts and filters globally. The Singapore Global Logistics Hub boasts a total investment of $5.4 million and is part of the company’s efforts to enhance its aftermarket product delivery globally. The new location will serve markets including the United States, Europe, China, India as well as customers across the Northeast and Southeast Asia regions. Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, graced the opening event at the CWT Pandan Logistics Center. By consolidating its commercial and recreational teams, the Cummins Marine organization will be better positioned to serve the business and its recreational, government service and commercial marine customers, the company said. Cummins' Carter to Retire

Cummins Inc. announced that Distribution Business President Pamela Carter, the first woman to lead one of the company's four main business units, will retire April 1. Carter, who became Indiana's first African American woman Attorney General in 1993, has been with Cummins since 1997. She initially served as the Company's Vice President - General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Carter then held several key positions within Cummins Fleetguard before leading Cummins Filtration from 2005 to 2007. She has been President of the Distribution Business Unit since 2007.

Cummins Revenue up 11 pct

Cummins Inc, a maker of diesel engines, reported an 11 percent rise in quarterly revenue, helped by strong demand from North America. Sales rose to $5.09 billion in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, from $4.59 billion a year earlier. Net income attributable to Cummins rose to $444 million, or $2.44 per share, from $432 million, or $2.32 per share. Excluding items, the company earned $2.56 per share.
