Waller Marine to Support Philippine FPP Project

Waller Marine, Inc, (WMI), of Houston, Texas, has been contracted by Vires Energy Corporation of the Philippines to produce the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of a nominal 400 MW Floating Power Plant (FPP) that will be installed in Southern Luzon for supply of power into the Luzon grid. Generating technology selected for the vessel will be Siemens Industrial Trent 60 WLE ISI dual fuel packaged gas turbine generator sets operating in simple cycle mode. Louisiana to Get Natural Gas Liquefaction and Fueling Facility

Tenaska NG Fuels, LLC and Waller Marine, Inc. today announced that they have agreed to develop, construct, own and operate Louisiana's first natural gas liquefaction and fueling facility along the New Orleans-Baton Rouge Mississippi River corridor with access to the Gulf of Mexico. Located on approximately 80 acres at the Port of Greater Baton Rouge, near major highway traffic thoroughfares and high-horsepower industries, Tenaska Bayou LNG will provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) as alternative clean-burning fuels for the high-horsepower marine, transportation, and natural gas and oil exploration and production industries in the region.

Waller Marine to Develop New LNG Terminal Facility

Waller Marine, Inc., through its LNG development subsidiaries, Waller Energy Holdings, LLC and Waller LNG Services, LLC, (the Company) has initiated activities on its first natural gas liquefaction (LNG) facility to be constructed on a 175 acre site the Company has acquired at the entrance point of the Calcasieu Ship Channel in Cameron Parish in Southwest Louisiana. Using small-scale liquefaction technology, the Company plans to install nominal 500,000 gallon per day LNG trains in phases as the market and demand for marine LNG fuels inevitably expands.

Articulated LNG Barge Proposal Gets Class AIP

ABS gives Approval in Principle (AIP) to a newly proposed LNG articulated tug & barge re-gasification vessel that facilitates the use of cleaner burning fuel. The concept vessel, introduced by Waller Marine Inc., has the ability to load LNG from existing LNG terminals, liquefaction facilities or traditional LNG carriers and transport the LNG to existing tanks, traditional LNG carriers, trucks or marine vessels using LNG as a fuel. The barge also is equipped for regasification of LNG directly to a pipeline or to a power plant. An additional feature will be the use of natural gas as a fuel in the dual fuel engines of the tug to drive the tug-barge unit.

Waller Marine Installs Floating Power Generation Barges, Venezuela

Waller Marine, Inc. announced the successful installation of its recently constructed floating power generation barges into a prepared basin at Tacoa, Venezuela. The two 171 MW barges, each supporting a GE 7FA dual fuel industrial gas turbine, will quickly be connected to the grid and soon supply much needed power to Caracas. The basin will be closed from the ocean this week for the installation of two large structural caissons, each having dimensions of 115 ft long by 16 ft wide by 26 ft high and 450 tons, which will be positioned at the entrance of the basin to house the power barges.

Waller Marine Delivers Caissons to Venezuela

Waller Marine, Inc recently delivered two large steel caissons to clients in Venezuela to be used for closure of a basin that is under construction at the Tacoa floating power generation facility. The caissons, each having dimensions of 115-ft in length, 16-ft in width and standing 26 ft high will be installed at the entrance of the basin that will house the two 170 MW power barges constructed by Waller and now undergoing pre-commissioning activities at the site. The caissons will protect the power barges from wave and tidal action from the sea.

Two 171 MW Floating Power Plants for Venezuela

Waller Marine, Inc of Houston, Texas will soon launch and christen what will become the world’s largest floating power generation facility when installed at a designated site in Venezuela. The two power barges, which Waller has under construction at the Signal International Shipyard in Orange, Texas, will be transferred from their land based construction locations to the water during the next few days and christened by Venezuelan dignitaries at a ceremony at the shipyard on August 21.

Signal Awarded Contract to Build Power Barges

Signal International has been awarded $30m contract by Waller Marine Inc. of Houston, Texas. Under the contract Signal will build and support the outfitting of two 300 ft X 100 ft power barges. Each barge will have a single GE 7FA Gas Turbine and 171 MW generator. Upon completion of the barges Waller Marine will install and operate the units in Venezuela. The barges will be built to ABS classification at Signal’s shipyard in Orange, Texas. Signal recently concluded a three-year transformation of the Orange fabrication facility and shipyard. Nearly $40m has been invested in process improvements and continuous flow manufacturing methods.

Maritime Technology Student of the Year

Andrew Harville, a recent graduate of the Webb Institute, was recognized as the 2009 winner of The Lloyd’s Register Education Trust Maritime Technology Student of the Year Award. The annual award, sponsored by the Lloyd’s Trust and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), is designed to highlight excellence while encouraging students to showcase their research and investigative studies on topics in the areas of naval architecture, marine and ocean engineering and promote leadership in the industry. It was presented to Harville at the SNAME 2009 President’s Luncheon, held during the SNAME 2009 Annual Meeting and Expo in Providence, Rhode Island. The theme for this year’s competition, open to undergraduate students in the U.S.

Barge Mounted CFB Power Plant Contracted

A contract for the supply and construction of what is being called the world's first barge mounted circulating fluidized bed combustion (CFBC) boiler electrical generating facility has been awarded to Waller Marine Inc., Houston, TX. The nominal 100 MW coal fired power plant will be installed at Pickwick, Tennessee under a contract with Pickwick Power LLC, who will be supplying power into the Tennessee Valley Authority system. The Waller designed barge mounted power plant will be constructed under supervision to ABS classification in a shipyard located in China using Chinese CFBC technology. Moular Barge Mounted Coal to Liquids Facility

Waller Marine, Inc. of Houston has been selected as part of the Project Team for the initial Feasibility Study of the $5b Geismer, La., Clean Coal to Liquid Fuels Project, recently announced by the Governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Blanco and the Leaders of Shanyang Borough of Shanghai City, China. FGH Delivers Power Barges

Waller Marine, Inc., took delivery of two 30 MW power barges from the Friede Goldman Offshore shipyard, Pascagoula, MS, in April 2001 and immediately loaded the vessels on the M.V. Smit Express for their dry tow to Lagos, Nigeria. The 60 MWs of power will be connected to other similar vessels, delivering much needed electricity to the city of Lagos. Each power barge was designed by Waller to ABS River Rule standards, each supporting a single General Electric, frame 6B, industrial gas turbine generator set, controls, switchgear, main transformer and associated equipment. Waller contracted Friede Goldman for the vessel's construction, installation and testing under a fast track schedule to deliver the units to Lagos. Waller is currently designing power barges for installation in U.S.
