Parker Bestobell Marine has recently completed a contract to supply cryogenic Globe and Check valves made in Sheffield, for Hoegh LNG’s series of five FSRUs (Floating Storage Regasification Units) that are being built at Hyundai shipyard (HHI) in South Korea.

The high quality valves were a combination of manual, pneumatic, actuated and check valves in sizes DN15 to DN100 and were approved by the Class society DNV.

Duncan Gaskin, Sales Director at Parker Bestobell Marine, said, “Supplying cryogenic valves for FSRUs is a growing part of our business, as international markets recognize the greater speed of construction of an FSRU and cost savings from storing and distributing LNG in this way.  We have full type approval from the four main Class societies, so safety and durability of our valves is assured.”

Bestobell previously supplied the Excelerate FSRU, which was famously in place in Brazil to supply gas during the World Cup in 2014.  The company also manufactured the same type of valves for the huge Q-Max size FSRU being built for MOL (Mitsui O.S.K Lines).

Parker Bestobell Marine is  in the manufacture of LNG cryogenic valves, with over 50 years’ experience. Its valves are widely used on LNG Carriers, FSRUs and LNG fuel gas systems. The company designs and produces valves to meet specific requirements in the marine sector and has supplied cryogenic valves to a majority of the major shipyards building LNG Carriers.
