David Roodenburg is the third generation from the Roodenburg family to become CEO of the Netherlands-based equipment manufacturer Huisman.His father, Joop Roodenburg, is currently active as President after he appointed Theo Bruijninckx CEO in April 2018, with the objective to prepare the company for the next generation. Bruijninckx will remain active in Huisman in his role as the company’s CFO.Since 1980, Huisman has been owned and led by the Roodenburg family, growing from 20 employees to 2,000 to date.

Huisman, a worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, recently opened up a new office in Bergen, Norway: Huisman Norge AS. Naviera Master Line selects Port Manatee for new container & breakbulk service to Caribbean, Central & South American destinations. The Army vessel reportedly struck an object and began taking on water in Chiniak Bay. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter was launched with dewatering and rescue equipment, to assist the Army crew aboard the Monterrey, a landing craft with the 481st Transportation Company located in Vallejo, Calif. To keep the vessel from sinking, the Monterrey crew successfully beached the vessel on Puffin Island. The crew reported a breach in an 8,000-gallon fuel tank and Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment Kodiak personnel responded. The Coast Guard has contracted Alaska Chadux Corporation to assist in containing and cleaning up the fuel leak. While only one fuel tank has been reported as damaged, the Monterrey is reportedly carrying up to 40,000 gallons of fuel on board.

VT Halter Marine recently launched MV Jean Anne, the first Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC) to be built in the U.S. Built by VT Halter Marine at its Pascagoula, Miss., facility, Jean Anne is one of the largest vessels to be launched by a U.S. mid-tier shipyard. "Today marks the successful launching of the first modern PCTC to be built in the U.S. for the Jones Act trade,” said George W. Pasha, IV, President, Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines. The ship is owned and operated by Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines, a joint venture between The Pasha Group, a Corte Madera, Calif.-based leading global transportation and logistics provider, and Strong Vessel Operators LLC, a Stamford, Conn.-based ship owner and operator. WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Mullen told lawmakers Feb. 13 that the Navy’s proposed $8.9 billion Emergency Wartime Supplemental request for fiscal year 2007 (FY07) will help the service reset and equip the force while staying ahead of the demands of current combat operations. “The Navy is doing its part in this long war, Mr. Chairman,” said Mullen in testimony to members of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. “I am proud of that. Our Sailors are proud of that. But the work is taking a toll on our equipment, our platforms, and yes, our people. On April 26 Buffalo Industrial Diving Company, Inc. (BIDCO) of Buffalo, N.Y., completed its acquisition of A.J. Brothers Marine Construction, Inc. a fixture in the Eastern Great Lakes marine construction field. The combined assets will continue business under the name Buffalo Industrial Diving Company, Inc. The acquisition added eight tugs in various lengths up to 72 ft. and eight barges in lengths up to 150 ft. to BIDCO's existing vessel fleet. With its increased inventory of cranes, barges, vessels and other heavy construction equipment, BIDCO is poised to become a major contender in the Great Lakes marine construction arena. A.J. Brothers' former president, Wayne Miller, has joined BIDCO as vice president of marine construction and partner.
