Great Lakes Towing Buys Historic Fireboat

The Great Lakes Towing Company (GLT) announced it has acquired a 62-year-old fireboat from the city of Cleveland, Ohio.The vessel, Anthony J. Celebrezze, was constructed in 1961 by Paach Marine in Erie, Pa. and was used by the Cleveland Fire Department until it was replaced with a new vessel, Garret A. Morgan, in June 2023 and put up for auction.Auction data shows the vessel was sold on November 14 for just over $41,000, including a 12.5% buyer's premium.GLT said its Great Lakes Shipyard division is very familiar with the Anthony J.

Svanehøj Pumps for Northern Lights CO2 Carriers

Svanehøj Bags Fuel Pump Order for 15 LNG Dual-fuel Containerships

Danish marine pump specialist Svanehøj announced it secured a new order from Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding to deliver fuel pump systems for a series of 15 newbuild 7,000 TEU dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) container vessels.The total of 30 deepwell fuel pumps will be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024, Svanehøj said, noting the order ranks among its largest relating to LNG fuel to date.The deal marks the second time within the last year that this customer has chosen Svanehøj as the supplier of LNG fuel pump systems.

LNG Newbuilds Drives Svanehøj to Record Order Intake in 2021

Demand for LNG-fuelled newbuilds is growing across the shipping industry, and with it Danish pump specialist Svanehøj reports it has quadrupled its sales of fuel pump solutions in 2021 and is heading for an all-time high order intake. 2021 has been a record year for new LNG dual-fuel shipbuilding contracts, which has a very positive impact on the order books at Svanehøj. The company reports 2021 was a banner year with an order intake of nearly $122 million, or 50% more than the previous record set in 2014.Svanehøj’s patented DW fuel pump solution is one of the main growth drivers.

Svanehøj Wins Pump Order for New Chinese MR Tankers

Svanehøj said it has landed two major P&C pump orders in China, most recently securing a contract with GSI Shipyard on a total of 96 deepwell pumps for four new MR Tankers.Svanehøj has manufactured pump systems for P&C tankers for decades, but the segment is now becoming a significantly larger part of the business. While the maritime industry steams toward alternative and dual fuel solutions, much of the focus, rightfully so, remains on the main movers as well as the overall vessel design and logistics considerations. Here we look at the SERO PumpSystems’ SHPmarine side channel pump, a pump integrated into the “Secondary Fuel Supply Systems” (SFSS) of hybrid ship propulsion units pumping LPG (propane) to the main shipboard engine. According to the manufacturer, it is the first pump of its kind to be both Lloyd's Register accepted and DNV GL type approved for maritime dual fuel propulsion systems.

Aas Mek Contracts PG for Wellboat Pumps

Norwegian shipbuilder Aas Mekaniske Verksted has awarded pump and liquid handling specialist PG Flow Solutions a contract to deliver pump systems to a wellboat the shipyard is building for Brønnbåt Nord AS.The wellboat to Brønnbåt Nord Lofoten is newbuild number 207 from Aas Mekaniske Verksted. Samsung Heavy Orders Pumps from SVANEHØJ

SVANEHØJ, which is located in Aalborg, Denmark, has secured an order from South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries for a total of 42 pumps for three new Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLEC). PG's Pump for Sølvtrans' Boat

Norwegian shipyard Aas Mekaniske Verksted has awarded compatriot pump supplier PG Flow Solutions a deal to deliver pump systems to another new vessel the yard is building for wellboat company Sølvtrans.Pump and liquid handling specialist PG Flow Solutions will deliver eight of the company’s large seawater circulation pumps that ensure continuous seawater circulation in the boat’s well.Additionally, the company will supply all engine room pumps that are required for the main engine and support engines, plus generic pump requirements for operating the wellboat. PG Flow Solutions Wins VARD Contract

NFT Partners with PG Flow Solutions on Wellboat Pumps

Pump and liquid handling specialist PG Flow Solutions is working with Norsk Fisketransport AS (NFT) to develop a new service programme to further optimise the operational uptime of the shipowner’s vessels.The Norwegean wellbore shipping company said that PG Flow Solutions has assisted it with identifying flexible pump systems that can be utilized across the company’s wellboat fleet.In the wake of this, NTF has identified and ordered selected cargo-critical pumps that are prepared for storage and will be available as spare pumps for use on board several of NFT’s wellboats, it said.Norsk Fisketransport AS provides wellboat services along the Norwegian coast. The company operates eight wellboats.PG Flow Solutions is also launching a pilot project for condition monitoring of the pumps.

Framo to Deliver Pump Systems to GasLog

Norway's Framo AS said it has won a contract to deliver pump systems (sea water lift pumps) for a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) for the ship owner GasLog at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard. Delivery of the systems is scheduled for August 2018. Recetnly Framo has signed a contract with Höegh LNG for the delivery of pumping systems to their new FSRU. The contract is for one unit, with option for three more units which are currently being built at Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea. Framo said its pumps provide significant savings on space and eliminate the need for a separate pump room onboard the ship.

Newport, R.I. fire department orders emergency response vessel from California boat builder Moose Boats. Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, said it was awarded a contract from Newport Fire Department in Rhode Island for the construction of a M2-38 aluminum catamaran CBRNE emergency response and recovery vessel. Framo Delivers Pumping Systems to Höegh LNG

Framo has signed a contract with Höegh LNG for the delivery of pumping systems to their new Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU). The contract is for one unit, with option for three more units which are currently being built at Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea. FSRU is a floating processing and terminal facility used when it is not profitable, or for other reasons not practical, to develop onshore terminals. By using an on-board regasification unit, the liquid gas carried by the LNG tanker is converted to gas prior to being brought ashore.

Diesel-electric Propulsion for 4 Semi-sub Ships

CSBC Corporation Taiwan has chosen Siemens to supply diesel-electric propulsion systems and other accessories for four 65,000-ton semi-submersible deck cargo vessels (SSDCVs). The country’s largest shipyard is building the vessels for a customer in Singapore. Compared to conventional mechanical propulsion technologies, Siemens’ diesel-electric system will reduce fuel costs by up to 15 percent, resulting from unique power management features, the manufacturer said. Norvestor to Become PG’s Largest Shareholder

Norvestor VI, L.P., a fund advised by Norvestor Equity AS, announced it has signed an agreement to invest in Ing Per Gjerdrum AS including its subsidiaries PG Hydraulics AS and PG Construction AS. The transaction is expected to close end of October 2014, subject to customary approval from the Norwegian Competition Authorities. Following the acquisition, Norvestor will become the largest shareholder in PG with about 63 % of the shares, while the remaining shares will be held by Mads Gjerdrum and Roy Norum. The company had revenues of NOK 552 million in 2013.
