Alicia Barton Named CEO of Vineyard Offshore

U.S.-based offshore wind developer Vineyard Offshore on Monday announced it has named Alicia Barton as the company’s new CEO, starting in January.Barton will take over for Lars T. Pedersen, who has led the company since it was founded in 2022 and before that led the team developing Vineyard Wind, the first commercial-scale offshore wind project in the United States, now under construction.“I had the pleasure of working with Alicia during the very early days of the Vineyard Wind project and know she brings an outstanding mix of skills and talent to Vineyard Offshore,” Pedersen said.

Maine Maritime Academy Names Paul as President

Maine Maritime Academy’s Board of Trustees announced that Jerald S. “Jerry” Paul has been named as the college’s 15th President. Paul, current President of Capitol Access and a 1989 graduate of the institution, will take office this spring.Paul will succeed President William J. Brennan, who steps down from the position at the end of April following 12 years of transformative leadership at MMA. “I am gratified that the Board has selected such a fine individual to lead this wonderful college when I step down next spring,” says President Brennan.

AAPA Elects Cordero as Board Chairman

The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) has elected Mario Cordero, executive director of California’s Port of Long Beach, to serve as the association’s next Chairman of the Board.Cordero will be installed as Chairman on the final day of AAPA’s 2020 Annual Convention, set for September 13-16, in Québec City, QC, Canada. HII Promotes Boudreaux

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced Tuesday that Chad N. Boudreaux has been appointed executive vice president and chief legal officer, effective April 1, 2020. Current Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer Kellye Walker recently announced her decision to pursue another opportunity, and she will depart HII on March 31.Boudreaux is currently the corporate vice president for litigation and chief compliance and privacy officer for HII. As executive vice president and chief legal officer, Boudreaux will report to HII President and CEO Mike Petters.

Crooker Named VP at Ingalls Shipbuilding

Eric Crooker has been promoted to vice president of contracts and pricing for Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division.Effective immediately, Crooker will have overall responsibility for contracts, estimating and pricing, and export/import licensing and compliance for the Ingalls shipyard and will report to Tom Stiehle, Ingalls’ vice president, business management, and chief financial officer.Crooker succeeds Don Perkins, who will retire from Ingalls on July 1.Crooker joined HII in 2012 and served as a senior counsel at Ingalls.

FMC's Mario Cordero to be POLB Executive Director

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners is all set to name Mario Cordero, a former chairman and current member of the Federal Maritime Commission(FMC), as the Port of Long Beach’s (POLB) new Executive Director. St. Lawrence Seaway Welcomes New Board Members

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) is pleased to announce that Mr. Georges Robichon and Mr. Tim Dool have each been appointed to its Board for a three-year term. Mr. Robichon replaced Mr. Paul Gourdeau as the international carrier representative in August, while Mr. Dool becomes the domestic carrier representative when Mr. Ian MacGregor’s term is over at the end of November. In addition, Mr. Jonathan Bamberger was named Chair of the Board of Directors effective September 1st. He is President of Redpath Sugar Ltd. and has been a member of the SLSMC’s Board since August 2010.

Emery W. Harper, 1936-2009

On Monday, October 26th, Emery W. Harper passed away following complications from surgery, leaving his spouse/partner Louis (Luigi) Terruso and his daughter Caroline (Carrie). Harper practiced law for 45 years, representing the full spectrum of clients with major interests in the shipping industry. He founded the Maritime Finance Committee of the US Maritime Law Association, was Chair of the Admiralty Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the International Section of the American Bar Association.

Brennan Receives FMC Nomination Nod

President George Bush intends to nominate Joseph E. Brennan, of Maine, to be Commissioner of the Federal Maritime Commission for a five-year term expiring September 30, 2008. Mr. Brennan has served on the Commission since 1999. He previously practiced law at a firm in Washington, D.C. Earlier in his career, Mr. Brennan served the state of Maine as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives and as Governor. He earned his bachelor's degree from Boston College and his J.D. from the University of Maine.

Fontaine Appointed as Head of Government Relations at NMMA

Monita W. Fontaine has been appointed Vice President of Government Relations for the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), working in the Washington D.C. office. She replaces Mick Blackistone who left the association earlier this week. Fontaine has been executive director of NMMA-affiliate the Personal Watercraft Industry Association (PWIA) since 2000. An attorney, she has a Master’s degree in Maritime Law and more than 25 years of lobbying experience in Washington D.C. and at the state and local levels. She is also an avid boater, and has skippered her wooden sailboat, Hither, Thither and Gone, across the Atlantic and throughout the Mediterranean and Caribbean.
