Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI) launched an initiative on December 10, 2014 aiming to transform training for America’s inland mariners at its Center for Maritime Education in Paducah, KY. The day before its 15th Annual River Bell Awards ceremony, the Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI) pushed the proverbial boat out on a new era of maritime education. In prior months, SCI had installed new simulators and renovated the hospitality areas at its Center for Maritime Education in Paducah, KY. Craig E. Philip, Chief Executive Officer, Ingram Barge Company, today announced several changes and promotions for the Marine Group. Dave O’Loughlin has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Vessel Operations and Strategic Sourcing, reporting to Kaj Shah, President, Ingram Barge Company. Mr. O’Loughlin will head up vessel operations and oversee a strategic sourcing team comprised of the external services and purchasing departments. Robert Barker is promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Ingram Barge Company. “Robert has been managing operations, budgets, and varied technological projects of the Information Services group since joining Ingram in 2010,” Craig E. Ingram Barge Company today completed its acquisition of U.S. United Barge Line, LLC (“UBL”), a barge transportation company headquartered in Tampa, Florida. The proposed transaction was announced on April 19 and, following the receipt of necessary government approval and satisfaction of other closing conditions, Ingram officials said today they had finalized the sale and that the process of integrating the UBL business will begin immediately. Approximately 300 UBL associates will join Ingram, and 17 towboats and some 650 barges will be added to the Ingram fleet. Orrin H. Ingram, Chairman of the Board of Ingram Barge Company, said the combined businesses will enable Ingram to continue its leadership role in the inland marine industry. Craig E.

Michael Hennessey Named Chairman. Michael W. Hennessey, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Brownsville Marine Products, was elected Chairman. He succeeds Craig E. Philip, President and CEO, Ingram Barge Company, who remains on the Foundation as Immediate Past-Chairman. Michael Toohey, President and CEO, Waterways Council, Inc., was named Secretary. Joseph H. Pyne, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Kirby Corporation, was re-elected as Treasurer of the Foundation. “I look forward to working with our esteemed officers and trustees this year, as the Foundation considers undertaking a number of industry studies and activities that will better allow the waterways industry to tell its story through facts and data,” said Chairman Hennessey.

Ingram Barge Company has been named as one of the first marine transportation companies to be accepted as a partner in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Program. The announcement was made by Craig E. Philip, CEO of Ingram Barge Company. The EPA program, launched in 2004, was created to identify products and services that reduce transportation related emissions. The program quickly spread to partnerships with government, businesses and consumers – all resulting in measurable air-quality improvements or greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions.

P.B. (Kaj) Shah, Senior Vice President of Customer Service, was named President of Ingram Barge company. The appointment was announced by Craig E. Philip, CEO of Ingram Barge Company. Shah has been an Ingram executive since 1989. Most recently, he has been responsible for managing the logistics and transportation needs of Ingram’s dry cargo customers. During his more than 20 years at Ingram, Shah has held various positions in Logistics, Corporate Development, Planning and Strategy, and Information Technology with several Ingram companies.

J. Ron Brinson, former port director and now special projects coordinator of the Port of New Orleans, was elected chairman of the National Waterways Conference, Inc., at the organization?s annual meeting. Brinson succeeds Craig E. Philip of Nashville, president and chief executive officer of Ingram Barge Co., who had served as chairman for the last two years. Brinson, who served as president and chief executive officer of the Port of New Orleans from 1986, now heads the millennium port and other special projects. He previously served seven years as president of the American Association of Port Authorities. He also worked for the South Carolina State Ports Authority and as a reporter and later associate editor of The Charleston News and Courier.

The National Waterways Foundation elected new officers and trustees at its recent meeting on October 3, 2007 in Houston, TX. Newly elected Foundation officers are Peter Stephaich, Chairman, Campbell Transportation Co., Chairman, succeeding Joe Pyne, President/CEO, Kirby Corporation, and Terry Becker, President, Riverway Co., Treasurer. R. Barry Palmer, WCI, President and CEO, was re-elected as Secretary. Re-elected as Foundation trustees were Craig E. Philip, President and Chief Executive Officer, Ingram Barge Company; H.
