Valeura Energy Completes Modification of MT Jaka Tarub Vessel for Wassana Offshore Oil Field

Oil and gas company Valeura Energy said Monday that modifications to the MT Jaka Tarub crude oil storage vessel were complete, making the vessel compatible with infrastructure at its Wassana oil field, offshore Thailand.According to Valeura Energy, the vessel is capable of tandem crude oil loading/offloading. "Subject to favorable metocean conditions, the vessel will arrive at the Wassana field in the coming days, after which Valeura intends to resume oil production operations, targeting initial rates of up to 3,000 bbls/d, net to the 89% working interest share held by its subsidiary company Valeura Energy Asia Pte. Valeura Energy Books Tanker for Gulf of Thailand Oil Field

Oil and gas company Valeura Energy has entered into a definitive agreement with PT Samudra Alam Transport to charter the MT Vula crude oil tanker to store oil produced from the Wassana oil field, offshore in the Gulf of Thailand.In Q2 2022, Valeura acquired KrisEnergy International (Thailand) Holdings Ltd. which owns and operates two licenses in the offshore Gulf of Thailand. The acquisition included the suspended Wassana oil field and the fully appraised Rossukon oil field. MAN Diesel & Turbo, MES Grow Partnership

A new cooperation agreement will intensify existing joint business activities between longstanding partners MAN Diesel & Turbo and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES). MacGregor Pusnes Loading Systems for Cosco Shipyard

By combining well-proven MacGregor Pusnes technology in bow loading and offloading systems, MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has helped to develop a solution that enables crude oil to be loaded directly from a floating production storage offloading (FPSO) facility or a floating storage offloading (FSO) unit to a conventional tanker, up to very large crude carrier (VLCC) size. The first contracts for the systems have been signed with China's Cosco Shipyard Group. "MacGregor, and its Pusnes brand, has a long history of developing pioneering offshore loading systems within the industry," says Høye Høyesen, Vice President, MacGregor Advanced Offshore Solutions.

MHI Subsidiary in Brazil for FPSO Compressors

In December Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor Corporation (MCO), a Group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) based in Hiroshima, will establish a new company in Brazil in a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), to be known as MHI Compressor do Brasil Ltda. (MCO-B). Creation of the new entity, which will launch commercial operations in February 2016, is targeted at developing the Latin American market for compressors, with a focus on expanding sales of compressors for use in Floating Production, Storage and Offloading systems (FPSO), a market expected to see robust demand as Brazil develops deepwater oil fields. Initially MCO-B will perform sales and after-sale servicing functions, with local manufacturing capability targeted for the future.

Offspring Launches Oiltech Surge Protector

Mooring and offloading systems supplier, Offspring International, has announced a rapid response, surge protection system for terminal loading hoses. Called Oiltech Surge Protector, the hose monitoring system offers a smarter and more sensitive way of detecting hose overpressure during tanker loading. If a pressure surge is detected, pumping operations are automatically shutdown. According to the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (2013), the highest incidence of tanker related oil spills is during loading operations.

Flexible Pipe Specialist on Pace for £1Million in First Year

Flexible pipe specialist FlexTech said it has surpassed its first year turnover target of £500,000 just six months after start-up and anticipates reaching £1million by the end of the year. Flexible pipe expert Craig Keyworth established the Aberdeen-based company in March of this year, after operating as a flexible pipe consultant for a number of years prior. Mr. FlexTech’s core business is the successful delivery of flexible pipe and riser engineering projects, offloading systems and integrity management and inspection.

Cargotec Buys Aker Mooring and Loading Systems Business

Aker Solutions today agreed to sell its mooring and loading systems business to Cargotec for an enterprise value of NOK 1.4 billion, or about €180 million. The unit, known for the Pusnes brand name, provides mooring equipment, loading and offloading systems, as well as deck machinery for the global offshore and shipping markets. Aker Solutions will book a gain of about NOK 1 billion from the sale. "The proceeds will be used to develop Aker Solutions' main business in the deepwater and subsea oil-services segments," says Øyvind Eriksen, executive chairman of Aker Solutions.

Trellborg Gains Crogenic Technology

Global engineering group Trelleborg has signed and finalized an agreement which will see its Trelleborg Industrial Solutions business area acquire cryogenic hose system technology from SBM Offshore, a company in floating production and mooring systems. According to Trellborg, thistransaction will enable the company to accelerate and strengthen its offering in the supply of equipment for the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) market. Mikael Fryklund, President of the Trelleborg Industrial Solutions business area, commented, “An increasingly popular choice in the offshore oil and gas sector, FLNG vessels are a cost effective and flexible solution for commercializing new gas discoveries in remote deep-water locations.

Allspeeds Ltd. designs and manufactures the Webtool range of cutting and gripping tools. In addition to the standard range, Allspeeds has manufactured a bespoke emergency cutting tool. The tool was supplied to an organization operating a number of floating production storage and offloading systems and will be used in the work of the Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC), an independent company that provides well-containment equipment and technology in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

IHC Merwede to Deliver New FPSO Offloading Systems

IHC Merwede has announced that it has signed two new contracts for the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) delivery of offloading system packages for five FPSO vessels (floating production storage and offloading). The first of these packages will be placed on to one of MODEC’s FPSO vessels under its lease agreement with Petrobras. The others have been for the conversion of four additional FPSO vessels for Petrobras by the Brazilian offshore shipbuilding company, Estaleiro Enseada do Paraguaçu SA (EEP). The Statement of Work (SOW) covers a 1 year study involving US operators and execution of Industry related work shops addressing various HiLoad DP offloading scenarios in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM). Aker Solutions Offshore Loading Systems Contracts, Brazil

Aker Solutions has won two similar contracts, together worth approx. 120 million NOK, from CQG Oil & Gas Contractors Inc. and CCI Oil & Gas Contractors Inc., for the supply of Pusnes offloading systems(TM) to two FPSOs in the Brazilian market. The offloading systems will be installed on the two FPSOs P-58 and P-62, which are being converted and built for Petrobras. The two FPSOs are spread moored FPSOs, and will use the field proven Pusnes offloading system(TM) at both bow and aft ends.

Aker Solutions has been awarded several contracts for supply of offloading systems. The total contract value for Aker Solutions is approximately $16m. The contract awards are from the Joint Venture Euronav/OSG and MODEC International LLC for the supply of offloading systems. The Euronav/OSG contract consists of offloading systems for two Floating Storage and Offloading Units (FSOs). The contract with MODEC is for two offloading systems for a Floating Production and Storage Offloading Unit (FPSO).

Offshore Gas Terminal Developers Must Decide Level of Interruptibility

Developers of offshore LNG and CNG terminals must decide how much investment to ensure continuous service. The options range from no storage with supply interruptions whenever a ship disconnects from the offloading system, to no storage with two offloading systems designed to accommodate at least one vessel at all times, to offshore liquid storage and possibly underground gas storage with pipeline support to ensure gas is always flowing regardless of weather or operational conditions.
