Sometimes, a change in a vessel's operational profile requires considerable modernization or retrofitting of its propulsion system in order for the vessel to remain fit for purpose. Wärtsilä to Extend Regasification Capacity for Croatian LNG Terminal

Technology group Wärtsilä has been contracted to extend the capacity of the regasification system installed onboard the LNG Croatia with a new regasification module. The 280-meter-long floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) vessel is owned by Zagreb-based LNG Hrvatska, and acts as the company’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on Krk island.The new module will supplement the vessel’s existing onboard Wärtsilä regasification system and increase the terminal’s capacity with 212 mmscfd (million standard cubic feet per day) or 250,000 m3 per hour.

Concordia Maritime Sells Three Tankers

Sweden-based shipowner Concordia Maritime announced it has sold three product tankers to a European buyer for above-market prices.The company said Friday that it has entered into an agreement for the sale of the 65,200 dwt vessels Stena Primorsk, Stena Performance and Stena Provence, all built in 2006 at Croatia's Brodosplit Shipyard. Gasunie to Charter New Fortress Energy FSRU to Reduce Dutch Reliance on Russian Gas

New Fortress Energy has executed a binding agreement to charter a floating storage and regasification unit (“FSRU”) to Dutch energy network operator Gasunie, in an effort by the Netherlands to reduce Russian gas imports. The chartered FSRU will provide storage capacity of approximately 170,000 m3 of liquefied natural gas with peak regasification capacity of 900 mmscfd. New Fortress Energy's FSRU will work in tandem with a third party’s FSRU to provide up to 8 bcm per year of total regas capacity.

Croatia's Jadroplov Orders Bulk Carrier Duo

Croatian shipping company Jadroplov has ordered two bulk carriers in China.In a brief statement on Thursday, the company said it had on Wednesday evening signed a contract for two newbuild 63,000 DWT bulk carriers.The contract was signed with an unnamed Chinese shipyard. Jadroplov will have an option to order one more vessel of the same type.The company, based in Split, did not say how much it would pay for the vessels, nor when they're expected to be delivered.At the end of the second quarter of 2021, the Jadroplov's fleet consisted of five ships with a total carrying capacity of 242,727 DWT.
