Multi Agency Craft Conference Makes its Mark

With the the task of securing tens of thousands of miles of U.S. Coast, agencies at the federal, state and local levels are increasingly turning to high-performance boats. In turn, these buyers rely on premiere events such as the Multi Agency Craft Conference (MACC) to experience the latest tech first hand. In its seventh year, over 1,300 representatives convened for the 3-day event at Little Creek Amphibious Base in Norfolk, Va. where MACC provided an expansive venue for government and commercial marine companies alike. As the emphasis on littoral combat continues to permeate, decision makers gather to absorb invaluable information, including the latest technologies to equip the mission-minded modern fleet.

Bullfrog Delivers Rescue Boat

Bullfrog Boats delivered a 17-ft. rescue boat to Camano Island Fire and Rescue. Craig Henderson, owner of Bullfrog Boats said, “The people at Camano Island Fire and Rescue were great to work with in developing this mission-specific rescue boat. Darin Reid, Assistant Fire Chief for Camano Island Fire and Rescue, added, “We are very pleased with the way the boat operates and with the quality of the boat. We got a lot more boat than we expected.” Camano Island Fire and Rescue is the primary water rescue agency for the Puget Sound in the area around Camano Island. “This mission-specific rescue boat is the first of its type for Bullfrog Boats and the first of a new product line for the six-year-old company,” said Henderson.

Bullfrog Boats Reports Record Year

According to Bullfrog Boats, 2002 proved to be a record-breaking year at the Bellingham, Wash.,-based builder of rigid hull, inflatable-style (RIB) boats. Business surpassed expectations, with sales in 2002 doubling 2001 sales. Bullfrog started what has proven to be a banner year by tripling 2001’s first quarter sales, and while founder Craig Henderson felt confident overall sales for 2002 would surpass those of 2001, it was a pleasant surprise for sales to have doubled this year, especially in such a sluggish economy. After four years in business, Henderson was able to increase concentration on marketing his product in 2002. “Increasing our presence in the market place was one of the main goals for Bullfrog Boats this past year.

AB Inflatables offers its Profile line of aluminum hull RIBs. The rugged, 3.28-mil hulls are lighter than comparable fiberglass hulls and are perfectly suited for operating in lakes and rivers or along rocky coastlines. In these environments, the aluminum bottoms also help resist abrasions from coral and sandy beaches. An extra air chamber between the hull and the floor keeps the Profile models buoyant even when flooded. The large-diameter tubes of the boats are made from 1670 decitex Hypalon/Neoprene fabric.
