52nd Paris MoU Meet in Saint-Petersburg

The Paris Memorandum of Understanding (Paris MoU) on Port State Control held its 52nd Committee meeting in St. Petersburg, the Russian Federation, from 13-17 May 2019, chaired by Brian Hogan.The meeting was opened by Yuri Kostin, Director of Department on State Policy on Maritime and River Transport, Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.The Committee reviewed the work of the Paris MoU of the last year, also taking into account the declaration of the 3rd Joint Ministerial Conference, and took decisions for the period ahead.The Committee considered the report of the Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on MARPOL Annex VI. The CIC was carried out from September to November 2018.

Russia Names Nominee for IMO Secretary General

The Russian Federation has nominated Vitaly Klyuev, Russia’s Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy for Maritime and River Transport, as a candidate for the post of Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), marking the first time ever that a candidate from Russia will compete for the IMO SG's post. Russia has been a member state of the IMO since the organization’s inception. Voting for the IMO Secretary General post will begin in June 2015, and the new Secretary General will assume the office from January 1, 2016.

Maritime Policy is Central Theme at Russian-Dutch Conference

New public policy priorities, government support and legislation for navigation on inland waterways in Russia, as well as fleet modernisation and waterways infrastructure will be discussed during the conference ‘Russian-Dutch Bilateral Year 2013: the Strategy of Water Transport’. Key speaker during the conference will be Viktor Olersky, deputy Minister of Transport. The conference takes place on September 24, 2013 in pavilion 7 of the Lenexpo in St. Petersburg. The conference will be co-chaired by Mr. Olersky and Siebe Riedstra, Secretary General of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. Northern Sea Route Hydrographic Survey Planned

Updated charts of the Northern Sea Route without the 'white spots' will be created in 2015-2016, in addition, the Ministry of Transport is planning to organize this year's transfer of jurisdiction from the Ministry of Defence to FSUE 'Hydrographic Enterprise' or in its own subordinate structure, said the deputy director of the Department of State Policy for Maritime and River Transport of Russia, Vitaly Klyuev. "We will increase the hydrographic work in the Arctic to the year 2015-2016 to get a real picture of the depths for safe navigation,"  he said at a news conference in RIA Novosti, devoted to the preparation of the Russian exposition at the World exhibition "Expo-2012" to be held from May to August in South Korea.

BV in Russian Registry Agreement

Bureau Veritas has entered an agreement with the Ministry of Transport of the delegating BV the authority to conduct statutory certification services and to issue certificates for vessels registered in the Russian International Registry of Ships.  The agreement was signed in Moscow this week by Alexey Klyavin, Director of Department of State Policy for Maritime and River Transport,  Ministry of Transport of the and Bernard Anne. It covers delegation to Bureau Veritas of the right to conduct surveys and issue statutory certificates for all the normal IMO international certification.
