Golden Glory For Canada Maritime in Montreal

For the third time in its history, Canada Maritime won the traditional'race' to be the first ocean-going ship to enter the port of Montreal after midnight on December 31st. The 1,000 teu Canmar Glory battled through the North Atlantic December gales to reach the Canadian gateway at 00:29 on January 1st, beating a friendly rival from Cast by 3.8 miles, and a OOCL ship trailing two miles further behind. early years of the 19th Century. hat. Canada Maritime Agrees to Container Slot Sale

Service (SLCS), has agreed to charter a fixed number of container slots to CMA-CGM on one of its Montreal-North Europe services. The agreement is expected to take effect in late April after CMA-CGM has withdrawn its existing tonnage from this route. The slot-charter is in addition to the existing agreement between Canada Maritime, OOCL and the Canex consortium which began in January 2003. "This will help supply and demand in the Montreal-North Europe trade lane become better balanced," said CP Ships Executive Vice President Commercial Alan Boylan. The slots will be taken on three SLCS ships, Canmar Spirit, Canmar Venture and OOCL Montreal for service between Montreal and Antwerp and Le Havre.

Canada Maritime’s Northern Service Passes 3M

Three million teus in 18 years. Maritime's Northern Service since it started operations in 1984. President, CP Ships with overall responsibility for Canada Maritime. "Just thinking about the variety of goods that will have been carried and the number of customers for which we have moved cargoes is quite remarkable. "Laid end-to-end, three million teus stretches nearly 11,250 miles, which is not far short of being half way round the world!" he added. Today, Canada Maritime's Northern Service offers three routings which all operate weekly through the Montreal Gateway. Thamesport, Antwerp and Le Havre; Route 2 links Montreal with Antwerp and Hamburg and Route 3 links Montreal with Liverpool.

Canada Maritime Introduces New Vessels

CP Ships Reports 2Q Results

CP Ships Limited has announced an unaudited operating income for second quarter 2003 of $40 million, nearly double the $21 million operating profit in second quarter 2002 and a $42 million improvement from the $2 million operating loss before exceptional items of $10 million in first quarter 2003. Basic earnings per share was $0.32 compared with $0.20 in second quarter 2002 and basic loss per share before exceptional items of $0.12 in first quarter 2003. Net income was $29 million compared to $16 million in the same period 2002 and a net loss of $11 million before exceptional items in the first quarter 2003. Volume at 558,000 teu was a quarterly record, up 12% from second quarter last year.
