In 2011 Goa’s most elaborate floating casino will celebrate three years of successful operation on the Indian province’s Mandovi River. The M/V Casino Royale was designed by AMC Marcon of Mumbai and her builder Water Ways Shipyard with the lines of a small cruise ship. The ship has capacity for up to 400 passengers, 35 operational crew and seven professional mariners. The Casino Royale is out-fitted to meet international safety standards for a passenger vessel. Although she is equipped to sail, the 70 by 14 meter vessel remains anchored in the Mandovi River as required by local gaming regulations.

To meet these regulations, the vessel is fitted with a pair of KTA19-M3 main engines, rated for 500 HP each at 1800 RPM that can give her a speed of nine knots. To provide power for the five operational decks with a total of 12000-square-feet of gaming space the ship is also outfitted with three 350 kW generator sets.

For delivering passengers to and from the mainland, there are six swift feeder boats that ferry the gamers between Casino Royale’s private jetty and the vessel.
