Wallenius Wilhelmsen has signed its first biofuel supply contract with ExxonMobil.The recently signed contract entails the delivery of sustainable biofuel within the second half of this year, aligning with Wallenius Wilhelmsen's strategic goal of achieving a net-zero emissions integrated supply chain service by 2027.The first biofuel delivery is scheduled for July. “The biofuel from ExxonMobil contains 30% biofuel and 70% conventional fuels. COSCO Teams up with Alibaba on Shipping Blockchain

COSCO SHIPPING has signed a cooperation agreement with e-commerce company Alibaba and its FinTech affiliate Ant Financial to digitalize the shipping supply chain.The Chinese firms will research and promote the deployment of shipping blockchain in China, working to facilitate the connection of shipping, ports, logistics and finance based on the technology, and to realize data connectivity through cross chain cooperation to build a platform for systematic cooperation between the upstream and downstream industrial chains.

Pertamina Looks to U.S. for LPG

Indonesia expected to import 70 pct of LPG in 2017. Country seen shipping in around 5 mln T of LPG this year. Indonesian state energy company Pertamina expects to import liquefied petroleum gas from the United States to meet growing demand, with U.S shipments to Asia set to climb following transport developments like the extension of the Panama Canal. Steel Handling Facility for London Thamesport

London Thamesport has signed an agreement with UK shipping agent and logistics company The Armitt Group for a purpose-built, 120,000 square feet specialist steel handling facility at the Kent port. Construction of the first phase of 60,000 square feet is well underway. Once completed, the specialist facility will offer unparalleled multimodal connections for breakbulk cargo handled in the South East of England. MHI, IHI & DBJ Join Forces On Investments

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), IHI Corporation and the Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ) concluded a three-way formal agreement today on their respective investments into a new commercial aero engine company, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Aero Engines, Ltd., to be launched on October 1. Rosneft Marine Deploys New Bunker Tanker

Rosneft Marine UK Ltd., a subsidiary of Russian state-owned oil company OJSC Rosneft, has introduced a new bunker delivery tanker to service the Port of Murmansk in Russia. The Russian-flagged RN Magellan is a 4622 deadweight tonne (dwt) bunker tanker built in 2007. The modern vessel is part of Rosneft Marine's strategy to replace aging bunker tankers from the Soviet era. The company is also examining the possibility of relocating the tanker to St. Petersburg due to its high-end delivery capabilities and environmentally friendly design.

New Bunker Tanker Ops in Russian Port of Tuapse

Rosneft Marine UK Ltd. and RN-Bunker LLC - subsidiaries of Russian state-owned oil company OJSC Rosneft - have jointly launched its first bunker delivery tanker to service the Black Sea Port of Tuapse in Russia. Built in 2007, the RN Taurus is a 3569 dwt state-of-the-art bunker tanker. The bunker tanker has pumps in each of its cargo tanks and is capable of delivering 150 cu. m. of bunker fuel an hour. It has two controllable-pitch propellers and a bow thruster with an integrated automated control system. Chemoil Q4 & FY2009 Report

Chemoil Reports Increase in Q2 Revenues

Chemoil has reported a 96 percent increase in revenues to $2.5b for the second quarter of 2008, compared to $1.3 billion for the second quarter of 2007. This was driven by an increase in energy prices and sales volume growth by 15% compared to the same period in 2007. Chemoil's revenue for the first half of 2008 increased 102% to $4.67 billion, compared to $2.31 billion for the first half of 2007. For the second quarter of 2008, profit after tax was $22 million, compared to $0.6 million in the previous year. Industry-Wide Interoperability Investment Paying Off

The Integrated Shipbuilding Environment (ISE) project sponsored by the National Shipbuilding Research Program is a three-year effort to develop and deploy an industry-wide architecture for computer interoperability. ISE is targeting cost and cycle time reduction for both Navy and commercial customers by providing real-time digital connectivity between shipbuilders and their suppliers. ISE also targets the total ownership costs during the 40-year life of a ship in that it provides access to configuration data during the life of a ship or ship class - regardless of computer system upgrades. The expected benefits of this project are very high.

FMC Approves NVOCC Service Arrangements Rulemaking

The Federal Maritime Commission announced that it would issue a Final Rule in Docket No. 04-12, Non-Vessel-Operating Common Carrier Service Arrangements, 46 CFR Part 531, to exempt non-vessel-operating common carriers (NVOCCs) from the publication requirements of the Shipping Act of 1984, subject to certain conditions. The Final Rule will allow NVOCCs and their affiliates to offer NVOCC Service Arrangements, or NSAs, to their shipper customers. NVOCCs will now be permitted to agree, on a confidential basis, with their shipper customers on the terms and conditions of service. Cargo moved under NSAs will be exempt from the tariff publication requirements of the Shipping Act. The Final Rule permits NVOCCs acting as carriers to offer NSAs to non-NVOCC shippers.
