LNG Carriers Going to Sabine Pass Despite Grounded Rig

Tankers were entering and leaving Cheniere Energy Inc's Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas export plant in Louisiana despite draft limitations in the Sabine-Neches Waterway after a rig ran aground in the channel over the weekend.The U.S. Coast Guard said a large semi-submersible rig, called the Jasminia, drifted into and ran aground in the Sabine Bank Channel, limiting vessels entering the waterway to those with a maximum draft of 36 feet (11 meters).The waterway sits on the Texas-Louisiana border and connects the Gulf of Mexico to Cheniere’s Sabine and oil refineries in Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas.That area is west of where two hurricanes—Laura and Delta—struck in recent weeks.

Grounded Offshore Rig Limits Sabine Pass Ship Traffic

The U.S. Coast Guard said on Monday that a large semi-submersible rig drifted into and ran aground in the Sabine Bank Channel, limiting vessels entering the Sabine-Neches Waterway to those with a maximum draft of 32 feet (9.8 meters).The waterway sits on the Texas-Louisiana border and connects the Gulf of Mexico to Cheniere Energy Inc's Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant and to oil refineries in Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas.That area is west of where two hurricanes struck in recent weeks. Nearby refineries are owned by Exxon Mobil Corp, Valero Energy Corp, Total SA, and others.The semi-submersible rig, called the Jasminia, drifted into the Sabine Bank Channel and ran aground on Friday, a Coast Guard spokesman said. The rig had housed offshore workers in the past.

Total in 10-Year LNG Bunkering Pact with Pavilion

Temasek-owned Pavilion Energy has signed a 10-year fully-termed agreement to jointly develop an LNG bunker supply chain in the port of Singapore with Total Marine Fuels Global Solutions (TMFGS),  a subsidiary of French energy conglomerate Total SA.Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised  on signing the contract.The agreement includes the shared long-term use of 12,000 cu m LNG bunker vessel (LNGBV). GoM: Total Begins Two Deepwater Projects

Toshiba Completes Sale of U.S. LNG Biz

The Japanese multinational Toshiba Corp said that it has completed the sale of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) operation in the United States to French oil giant Total SA, letting go of an asset it deems risky as it continues to restructure. Total's Investments in Tellurian Totals $907mln

Tellurian, an integrated global natural gas business firm, announced that it entered into definitive agreements with subsidiaries of Total S.A. for a $500 million equity investment in Driftwood Holdings LP, and related purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG).Along with Total’s previously announced agreement to purchase approximately $200 million of Tellurian common stock, Total’s aggregate investment in the Tellurian portfolio will be approximately $907 million at final investment decision (FID) for Driftwood, the NASDAQ-listed company said in its second quarter 10-Q filing."We continue to advance negotiations for the sale of LNG and interests in Driftwood Holdings with several counter-parties," it said.

Mitsui, JOGMEC join Arctic LNG-2

Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co and state-owned Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) have signed a sales and purchase agreement with Russia’s Novatek for a 10% participation interest in the Arctic LNG 2 project.The share will be acquired through the Dutch Company, Japan Arctic LNG B.V., in which Mitsui has invested jointly with JOGMEC. Sempra's Cameron LNG Terminal Ships First Cargo

Sempra Energy said on Friday the $10 billion Cameron liquefied natural gas export terminal in Louisiana had shipped its first cargo, making the plant the fourth big LNG export terminal to enter service in the United States.Mitsui & Co Ltd, one of the partners in the Cameron project, chartered the tanker, Marvel Crane, to pick up the commissioning cargo.It was not immediately clear where the vessel was headed.Sempra said commissioning cargos were a critical step in the start-up process. The plant is expected to get federal authorization to enter commercial operations in mid-2019.Natural gas use is growing fast around the world as countries seek to wean their industrial and power sectors off dirtier coal.There are three liquefaction trains at Cameron.

Maersk Reports Higher Earnings for Q1

Danish container shipping and logistics giant AP Moller – Maersk has closed the first quarter of 2019 with a 33% increase in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) to USD 1.2bn while revenue grew by 2.5% to USD 9.5bn compared to Q1 2018. Operating cash flow improved significantly to USD 1.5bn and free cash flow was USD 3.5bn, including sale of shares in Total S.A.“We had a good start to 2019. In Q1, revenue grew by 2.5%, operating earnings improved by 33% and cash flow from operations doubled to USD 1.5bn. With a strong free cash flow of USD 3.5bn after the sale of the remaining shares in Total SA., we have significantly strengthened our balance sheet.

Tellurian to Decide on Louisiana Driftwood LNG Project in 2019

Tellurian Inc confirmed on Wednesday it still plans to make a final investment decision to build its proposed $30 billion Driftwood liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project in Louisiana in 2019:* The company, in a first-quarter earnings statement, said it was on track to make a final investment decision in 2019, start construction in 2019 and begin operations in 2023.* Driftwood is designed to produce 27.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG or about 4 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) of natural gas. One billion cubic feet of gas is enough to fuel about 5 million U.S. homes for a day.* The company has said the first phase will likely comprise 16.6 MTPA.* Driftwood is one of more than a dozen U.S.

Sempra Gets Okay for LNG Export in Mexico

French multinational integrated oil and gas company Total S.A. has signed an agreement with Ecoslops S.A. that gives the oil major a 25% interest in its affiliate Ecoslops Provence.Ecoslops Provence is building a unit to regenerate oil residues at Total’s La Mède complex. Shell Acquires 26% Stake in Hazira LNG

MOL, Total Make Refueling Europe Easier

Japanese logistics giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and French multinational integrated oil and gas company Total S.A. signed an agreement which will make travelling across Europe easier for their corporate customers.The agreement provides for acceptance of MOL Group Cards by Total in its network of stations in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Germany. At the same time, the Total fuel cards will be accepted in the MOL’s and Slovnaft’s network of stations in Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Slovakia.As a first step, starting from February 2019, Total fuel cards are accepted in MOL’s network in Hungary and Romania. Sempra Energy Signs New Mexican LNG Terminal
