ClassNK Unveils IACS Compliant Design Software

ClassNK Releases World’s First Harmonized CSR Compliant Ship Design Support Software. Classification society ClassNK (Chairman and President: Noboru Ueda) has announced the release of a new version of its PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) ship design support software that is fully compliant with the new IACS Common Structural Rules (harmonized CSR) for oil tankers and bulk carriers. The new ship design support software is the first in the world to fully support the new Common Strucutural Rules, which were adopted by IACS in December 2013.

ClassNK Authorized for Romanian Surveys

The Japanese classification society has been authorized by the Romanian Naval Authority to carry out Romanian Government Surveys. The agreement allows ClassNK to perform surveys for SOLAS, MARPOL, Load Line and other international conventions, as well as perform audits and issue certificates to Romanian flagged vessels on behalf of the Romanian Government. With the authorization from Romania, ClassNK is now authorized to perform surveys and audits on behalf of 15 Flag Administrations in the EU, and a total of 108 Flag Administrations throughout the world.

ClassNK Receives Expanded Authorization from U.S. Coast Guard

The world’s largest classification society ClassNK announced that it was granted expanded authorization from the United States Coast Guard (USCG) on 25 December 2012, and will now be able to carry out a full range of surveys for the SOLAS, MARPOL and AFS conventions, as well as ISM Audits on behalf of the United States flag administration. ClassNK Releases First Harmonized CSR Software

ClassNK (Chairman and President: Noboru Ueda) has released the world’s first software package for use with the new IACS Harmonized Common Structural Rules (CSR) for bulk carriers and oil tankers, which were released at the beginning of July 2012. The release makes ClassNK the first classification society to release Harmonized CSR compliant software for use by the maritime industry. ClassNK Announces Boardroom Reorganization

Tokyo - Japanese ship classification society Nippon Ippon Kyokai (ClassNK) has announced the following changes in its Executive Board of Directors, effective March 22, 2012. Executive Vice President Hiroshige Kitada has retired, and two executive officers, Tetsushi Agata and Tetsuya Kinoshita, General Managers of the General Affairs Department and Planning Department, respectively, have been promoted to the position of managing director. USCG Awards ClassNK Measurement Authorization

ClassNK Awarded Authorization from the U.S. regarding Tonnage Measurement and Load Lines. The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has entered into an agreement with ClassNK to officially delegate authority to the world’s largest classification society for certification in accordance with the International Convention on Tonnage Measurement of Ships and the International Convention on Load Lines. ClassNK Reorganizes Management Team

Classification society ClassNK has announced that it will reorganize its Board of Directors as part of a larger corporate reorganization, effective July 1, 2011. As part of the reorganization, ClassNK’s four current Managing Directors -- Shosuke Kakubari, Koichi Fujiwara, Takuya Yoneya, and Yasushi Nakamura -- will be promoted to Executive Vice Presidents and take up positions alongside current Executive Vice Presidents Hiroshige Kitada and Toshitomo Matsui. Chairman and President Kenji Ogawa, Executive Vice President Yukio Tsudo, and Managing Director Kazunori Yamanaka have retired, resulting in three new appointments to the board.
