CMA CGM America Reorganization

CMA CGM would like to announce the reorganization of CMA CGM America LLC, the U.S. agent of the CMA CGM Group, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, with the departure of Frank Baragona, Chairman of CMA CGM America LLC. After a successful career in the shipping industry and nine years as head of CMA CGM America, Frank Baragona will be leaving the CMA CGM Group at the end of 2013 for retirement. As of November 2013, Marc Bourdon, General Manager of CMA CGM do Brazil, will take on the position of General Manager of CMA CGM America LLC and will closely be working with: Todd Rives, Chief Commercial Officer; Ed McCarthy, Chief Operating Officer and Jim Arnold, Chief Financial Officer, already in place in Norfolk.

Container Line Major Adds Charleston to Asia Service

CMA CGM is adding the Port of Charleston to its Pacific Express 3 (PEX 3) weekly service. The French carrier has deployed 11 vessels of between 4,400 and 5,100 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) capacity in the service. The first ship in the service to call Charleston, the 5,095-TEU CMA CGM Florida, is scheduled to call North Charleston Terminal in mid-April. CMA CGM Figaro Largest Vessel to call Savannah

The CMA CGM Group announced the inaugural call on August 27 in Savannah of the CMA CGM Figaro, 8,500-TEU, the largest containership ever to call the harbour. •    an electronically controlled engine, reducing oil and fuel consumption by respectively 25% and 3%. •    pre-equipment to connect to a port’s electricity supply during operations.
