Gulfstream Wins DHS Ferry Contract
Gulfstream Shipbuilding won a contract through the United States Department of Homeland Security for a passenger/vehicle ferry to service the New York and Connecticut waters. This 118 x 27 x 10.75 ft. crew boat-style vessel will be capable of transporting passengers, freight and vehicles in and around the waters of the Eastern Long Island Sound and Gardiner’s Bay. Gulfstream Shipbuilding welcomes James Murray, a second generation boat builder and operator/owner, to the Sales Management Team. James is the son of Jim Murray, who originally opened the shipyard 35 years ago as Freeport Shipbuilding. James built a variety of custom boats at the shipyard before venturing off to start his own successful passenger excursion company. Coast Guard Auxiliarist To Be Honored
The flagpole at the Coast Guard Base in Woods Hole will be dedicated to Coast Guard Auxiliarist John "Jack" Cowley on Flag Day, June 14 at 8 a.m. Prominently viewed from Water Street, the flagpole sits in front of the Coast Guard base in Woods Hole. It will be dedicated during a brief ceremony to the faithful auxiliarist who has overseen six years worth of morning colors, the official raising of the American flag each morning. Since his arrival at Group Woods Hole over six years ago, Jack has faithfully volunteered over 8,000 hours of administrative support for the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In addition to his administrative work, he patrols the waters around Cape Cod and Boston on his 36-foot Trojan Spindrift ensuring the safety of the area's mariners.
