Florida Shipyard Purchases Mobile Boat Hoist

Jacksonville shipyard purchases a Marine Travelift 600C to compliment existing dry dock. The Commodore Point Facility at North Florida Shipyards, Inc. has been providing commercial ship repair and modernization support to customers for over 30 years. To maintain its current customer base and generate new business the shipyard invested in a Marine Travelift 600C mobile boat hoist with the assistance of federal stimulus package funds. FDNY Marine Ops’ New Travelift

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) is the largest fire department in the United States and protects 560 miles of waterfront through the use of a fireboat fleet by response to and mitigation of fires and other emergencies on the waterways, emergency towing, and firefighting; as well as providing life safety to those in the water such as swimmers and jet ski riders. To increase its boat haul out abilities the FDNY Marine Operations opened up a competitive bidding process for a new mobile boat hoist.

Coast Guard Rescues Savannah boaters

A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Station Savannah rescued two boaters at 1:45 p.m. after they were forced to jump into the water when their vessel caught fire seven miles southeast of Tybee Island, Ga., today. Rescue coordinators from Coast Guard Group Charleston, S.C., diverted the helicopter crew, which was returning from a previous missions in Charleston and also launched a small boat from Station Tybee, Ga., to respond to the vessel fire. Wallace Thomas Jr, and Thomas Wright were located immediately by the Savannah helicopter crew. Both boaters were forced to abandon ship to avoid flames which had completely engulfed their 30 foot recreationaal boat. Each of the survivors were hoisted by the Coast Guard air crew and taken to Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah.
