Provider of business collaboration and communication solutions, Avaya, says it has signed a major deal with Cairo ICT 2013, which enables the Suez Canal Authority to move their full 15,000 communications ports to Avaya Aura® Communication Manager.

In a move towards complete unified communications the Suez Canal Authority will be able to  improve employee mobility, centralizing the communications network with Modular Messaging technology that can 'find' employees and coordinates messaging across sms, email and voice services.

The suppliers explain that the agreement will consolidate the organization's communications infrastructure on Avaya Aura®. It also encompasses a broad suite of Avaya technology solutions and expertise, enabling Avaya to enhance technology operations throughout Suez Canal Authority networks.

By using Avaya for this complete end-to-end implementation, the Canal Authroity can move to a standardized communications model, creating a centralized system to manage all of its operations. Replacing the legacy system and upgrading to a capable and well-developed infrastructure, the solution will ensure the interconnectivity of allowing for centralized modular messaging.

"The Suez canal plays a major role in the region’s economies with shipments of goods passing through one of the most vital waterways on the planet, meaning our employees have to be connected at all times no matter their location. In turn we have closely studied Avaya's Unified Communication and Collaboration advancements in the market and continue to be impressed with the their capabilities. We believe that Avaya will allow us to cope with the ongoing technology changes and equip our staff and faculty with productive tools of communication and collaboration," says  Eng. Magda Hassan Heshmat,  Deputy Director, Communications Department Suez Canal Authority.
