Netanya, Israel, March 14, 2011 – ORBIT Communication Systems, Ltd., a Satellite Communications, Tracking & Telemetry, and Communications Management Systems provider, today announced that it has appointed new regional sales directors in Europe and Latin America for its Satellite Communications (SatCom) Business Unit.

Mr. Michel Rieken has joined ORBIT Communication Systems Europe as Director of Sales and Business Development. Having worked over 20 years in the telecommunications industry, including 12 years in satellite communications, Mr. Rieken brings intimate knowledge of the European maritime market including end-users, system integrators and satellite service providers. Prior to joining ORBIT, he held key sales positions at Stratos Global and CapRock Communications and was instrumental in leading both of these companies to revenue growth and expanded market share in the maritime communications market.

Mrs. Silene Alcoba was named Director of Sales and Business Development for Latin America and will be based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her rich sales and business development experience includes management positions with leading telecom companies such as Global One, Equant (Orange) and Gilat Brazil, where she was responsible for business within Brazil and Latin America. During the last six years, Mrs. Silene has focused on satellite business technology, dealing with large international accounts and developing partnerships with corporations, carriers, and oil and gas companies.

“As we continue to grow our satellite communications business on a worldwide scale, building a strong local presence is essential to our business strategy," said Lior Weinstein, Deputy President of Orbit Satellite Communications. "Both Michel and Silene are market-savvy professionals with hands-on knowledge of their respective regions. I am confident that the efforts of our regional teams will allow us to enhance our relationships with both customers and partners.”

ORBIT's Satellite Communications offers a wide portfolio of advanced satellite communications solutions for maritime and land-based applications. ORBIT's systems are installed on over 3,300 maritime platforms – from naval vessels to cargo ships, ocean liners and oil rigs - enabling TV reception and broadband IP connectivity for always-on applications such as Internet, video, telephony and more.
