Many NMBA members felt the brunt of Hurricane Sandy, so the conference committee has hired Norris L. Beren, Executive Director of Risk Reduction Education, Inc. to advise attendees on how to protect their business in the event of a disaster. The author of two books, a web-based training program, and dozens of articles on disaster preparedness, Beren has provided preparedness training for many major corporations such as CNA Insurance and Federal Express and has worked with more than 1,000 companies. Beren presents the value and potential return on investment in creating a culture of preparedness throughout a business, which includes keeping the company running after a disaster, protecting shareholder value, and surviving a difficult economic environment that could follow.
