Occidental's Chiang Quits After New CEO picked

Occidental Petroleum Corp told regulators on Friday that a top executive, Willie Chiang, has suddenly quit - a month after Vicki Hollub was picked to eventually replace Chief Executive Steve Chazen. Hollub, a longtime Occidental employee, will become the first woman to head a major U.S. oil company. That is expected to occur next year. Chiang was the company's executive vice president, operations, and had reported directly to Chazen. ConocoPhillips Announces Senior Management Changes

John Carrig, currently executive vice president, Finance, and chief financial officer, will become president and chief operating officer. He will continue to report to Jim Mulva, chairman and chief executive officer. Jim Gallogly, currently executive vice president, Refining, Marketing & Transportation, will become executive vice president, Exploration & Production. Willie Chiang, currently senior vice president, Commercial, will become senior vice president, Refining, Marketing & Transportation. ConocoPhillips Announces Management Changes

ConocoPhillips announced the following actions concerning the company's senior management. These changes will be effective September 1, 2007. Bill Berry, executive vice president, Exploration & Production – Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, has elected to retire after 31 years of service. From September 1 until his retirement in January 2008, Mr. Berry will serve in a transition role. John Lowe, currently executive vice president, Commercial, will become executive vice president, Exploration & Production. Reporting to Mr. Randy Limbacher, who will continue with his current operational responsibilities as president, Exploration & Production – Americas.
