Inpex Officially Opens Ichthys LNG Site

A landmark celebration has officially opened the onshore LNG processing facilities of INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG – one of the largest and most complex resource developments in the world.Japanese, Australian and Northern Territory government representatives unveiled a plaque to commemorate four decades of future benefits Ichthys LNG will bring to the Northern Territory, Australia, Japan and the region.Symbolising the collaboration inherent in global enterprises on the scale of Ichthys LNG, Mr Hiroshige Sekō, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Senator the Hon. Simon Birmingham, Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Senator the Hon. Matthew Canavan, Australian Minister for Resources and Northern Australia and The Hon.

Austal Delivers 7th Cape Class Patrol Boat

Shipbuilder Austal Limited announced it has delivered Cape Wessel, the seventh of eight Cape Class patrol boats being supplied to Australian Border Force under a $330 million design, build and in-service support contract. “The on-time delivery of Cape Wessel and continued efficiencies across the program reinforce Austal’s capability to reliably build and sustain naval and border protection vessels,” said Austal CEO Andrew Bellamy. “Our team at the Henderson shipyard have again demonstrated their ability to meet contracted timeframes.

ConocoPhillips Makes Discovery Off Australia

ConocoPhillips announced a discovery in the Caldita No. 1 exploration well in the NT/P 61 license located offshore Northern Territory Australia. The well spudded on July 7, 2005, and encountered a significant hydrocarbon column in a high-quality reservoir interval. A drill stem test was conducted that flowed gas at a rate of approximately 33 million standard cubic feet per day on a one-inch choke. The well reached a total depth of 4,037 meters and will be plugged and abandoned as programmed. Technical evaluation to assess the further appraisal and development of the Caldita discovery is in progress. NT/P 61 is located in the Timor Sea approximately 265 kilometers north northwest of Darwin. The Caldita No. 1 well was drilled in 137 meters of water.
