ConocoPhillips Marine Donatation to Help LNG Training
SUNY Maritime College has received a corporate donation of $10,000 from ConocoPhillips Marine to advance Maritimeâs Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) training and educational program. Maritime will make upgrades to its liquid cargo simulator, increase the number of student stations within the simulator and purchase software for use in LNG tanker simulations. The program will also be expanded to include product tanker and crude oil tanker operations and training. Anthony Palmiotti â79, acting chairman of the department of marine transportation (MT) and director of continuing education says this donation is significant âfor it provides the seed money we need to develop LNG training and curriculum for our undergraduatesâŚ
SUNY Maritime Selects Transas
In July of 2002, the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College awarded the Buffalo Computer Graphics / Transas Marine USA team the contract for replacement of their existing full mission ship simulator. The simulator system includes a comprehensive Instructor control, monitoring and debriefing station, along with a seven visual channel full mission main bridge simulator designed to meet DNV Class âAâ navigational simulator standards. At the core of the system is Transas Marineâs industry leading Navi Trainer Professional simulation software with a comprehensive set of highly detailed vessel and geographic models. The bridge is designed to be flexible enough to be adapted for a number of specific marine training programs in the future and includes stimulated ARPA/Radar unitsâŚ
