With a contract value over 1 billion NOK, Kleven Maritime signs with Norwegian-based ship owner Eidesvik for delivery of a large offshore subsea construction vessel

Kleven Maritime has signed a contract with Norwegian based ship owner Eidesvik on the delivery of a large offshore subsea construction vessel of SALT 301 OCV-design by Salt Ship Design. The vessel is to be built in Kleven Maritime’s shipyard Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway. The total contract value is around 1.1 billion NOK. The contract also includes an option for a further vessel of the same type.

The vessel will have a dead weight of around 13.500 tonnes, length 145 m, width 31 m, and will have accommodation for 150 persons. Two large offshore cranes, one 400 tonnes crane and one 100 tonnes crane, will be installed on board. Delivery is set to Q2 2014.

Eidesvik and Kleven Maritime have worked together on complex projects earlier, as they were pioneers in building the world’s first LNG powered offshore supply vessel, Viking Energy, in 2003. I March 2012, Kleven Maritime delivered the LNG powered vessel Viking Prince, and in June Eidesvik will also take delivery of its sister vessel Viking Princess.

Kleven Maritime now has 11 vessels in the order book, at a total value of 5.5 billion NOK.
