Alion Nets $73M Navy Contract

Alion Awarded Navy Contract Valued at $73.2M to Support NAVSEA Programs for Maintenance and Modernization of 185 Surface Warfare Ships; Technology Solutions Firm to Oversee Logistics for Naval Ship Overhauls Worldwide.

 

To help the U.S. Navy use capital resources wisely and extend the service life of ships, Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions company, will perform professional support services under a $73.2 million contract award. Alion’s team of experts will provide engineering and technical support across the Navy and with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) headquarters. This support includes program management, engineering, logistics, training, lifecycle management and financial management for the Navy’s 185 surface ships. Alion will also oversee logistics support for naval ship overhauls in shipyards around the world.

 

“The Alion team provides an experienced, well-integrated solution to help the Navy deliver overhauled ships on time, within budget and modernized to meet long-term performance expectations,” said Rod Riddick, Alion Senior Vice President and Manager of the Acquisition Program Management Group. “Through better planning of shipyard availability periods, Alion is enabling the Navy to more efficiently maintain ships and further extend the fleet’s lifecycle.”

 

The period of performance runs Dec. 7, 2011 through Dec. 6, 2012.
