General Dynamics' Information Technology Unit, gets contract for supply of training support services to Naval Education & Training Command

General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Navy to deliver education and training support services to the Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) and the Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center (NETPDTC). This three-year, multiple-award contract has a potential value of $97.4 million to all nine awardees, if all options are exercised.

Since 1992, General Dynamics has worked with the NETC and NETPDTC to develop and deliver training programs for the Navy and U.S. Department of Defense agencies. The company will continue to offer a variety of training services including courseware development, web-based distance learning, survey and questionnaire development, training needs analysis and program evaluations.

General Dynamics will provide skilled personnel to support these training services including instructional designers, computer programmers, computer graphics specialists, military analysts and senior training analysts. Work for this project will primarily be performed in Hampton Roads, Va., Gulfport, Miss., Pensacola, Fla., and Port Hueneme, Calif.

"The Naval Training Products and Services contract supports and enhances Navy education, training, career development and personnel advancement for service members," said Ed Hudson, vice president and general manager of General Dynamics Information Technology's Network and Mission Systems sector. "For nearly two decades, we have helped to evolve training initiatives that strengthen the military workforce. General Dynamics looks forward to continuing its strong relationship with the NETC and NETPDTC by providing state-of-the-art training solutions and services that will improve fleet readiness."
