Dubai, UAE, May 4, 2011: Drydocks World, the leading Dubai-based maritime service provider, and Abu Dhabi National Tanker Company & National Gas Shipping Company (ADNATCO & NGSCO), the shipping arm of ADNOC and its Group of Companies, reviewed ways of further strengthening their trade cooperation to stimulate oil and gas industry and trade in the Middle East.
This was decided during a meeting between Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Board of Drydocks World and Maritime World and Ali Obaid Al-Yabhouni, General Manager of ADNATCO & NGSCO, which delivers the UAE’s energy to the world through safe, efficient and environmentally responsive transportation of petroleum products, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other cargos.
The two sides also exchanged views on various issues related to the transportation of oil and gas and future strategies focused on developing such vital marine trade due to its importance for global economy and the role of energy in general.
ADNATCO & NGSCO has two LNG carriers, Al Hamra and Umm Al Ashtan and a Bulk carrier Arrilah-1 currently undergoing repair and maintenance at the Dubai Drydocks World shipyard. Another ship Al Dhafrah, a Ro-Ro vessel was repaired earlier this year.
Mr. Buamim said that the meeting was part of ongoing discussions between the two sides aimed at bolstering relations and exchanging visits and ideas. He asserted his company’s readiness to provide full support to ADNATCO & NGSCO as part of Dubai Drydocks World’s ‘Customer first initiative’.
Explaining the importance of the initiative, Mr. Buamim noted that the service relied on efficiency and productivity as well as technical excellence, optimal safety and on-time delivery. He said the service was also in line with the company’s new strategy of supporting and stimulating the oil and gas industry and maritime transport.
“Speed, accuracy and quality are the real principles behind jobs carried out at the shipyard” said Mr. Buamim.
“Our ‘Operational Excellence’ programme stresses on the development of performance management, operations and limiting waste of resources and preservation of the actual capacities of both the client and the service provider and supports dynamic safety and the environment management processes and procedures. In addition, vessel building capacity and in-house engineering and technical expertise across the Group helps us to address the diverse needs of ADNATCO-NGSCO in all our yards in Dubai-UAE, Batam-Indonesia and Singapore,” he added.
For his part, Mr. Al-Yabhouni said he appreciated the safe, qualitative and professional services offered by Drydocks World and hoped that Group will continue to maintain the level of service delivery.
He highlighted the importance of partnerships and the development of bilateral relations, affirming his trust that Drydocks World would do everything possible to meet the future needs of ADNATCO & NGSCO.
“Building business relations between the two companies is necessary and important and serves the interests of both companies,” he said.
Mr. Al-Yabhouni expressed his appreciation of the leadership role assumed by the new management at Drydocks World and the work being carried out to raise the capacity and capability as well as to develop the priorities and strategies for enhancing the service-level within the oil and gas sector.
