Crowley Logistics Adds 400 New Reefer to its Fleet

Florida-based Crowley Logistics has added 400 new refrigerated (reefer) cargo containers to its industry-leading equipment fleet just in time for the peak perishables shipping season beginning in Central America.The additional units, all 40-foot-long, high cubes built to Crowley’s exacting standards, further demonstrates the company’s focus on offering customers the most reliable and efficient equipment in the market. CMA CGM Opts for DP World London Gateway

CMA CGM’s European Caribbean Service is to begin calling at DP World London Gateway Port following enhancements to the rotation. It means that this particular service will be calling in the UK for the first time on Friday, January 6. Dedicated to reefer transport, the service will provide one of the shortest transit times on the market between Central America and North Europe. It also enables the UK to connect with the whole of the Caribbean region through CMA CGM’s strategic hub in Kingston, Jamaica. The new ECS rotation will be: Puerto Limon, Kingston, Rotterdam, DP World London Gateway, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Caucedo, Kingston, Santo Tomas de Castilla, Puerto Cortes and Puerto Limon.

NCL's Norwegian Jade to Call Port Tampa Bay Home

The Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) ship Norwegian Jade will set sail from Port Tampa Bay during the upcoming winter cruise season. Port Tampa Bay officials welcomed the 2,402-passenger ship for the 2016-2017 fall/winter cruise season. Norwegian Jade is replacing the Norwegian Star, which sailed from Tampa last year, according to a news release. Norwegian Jade will sail Sundays to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatán and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' new southern Belize destination, Harvest Caye. The ship will also operate two eight-day holiday sailings this month that add a stop at Santo Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala. Guests sailing on Norwegian Jade will also be able to enjoy further Caribbean adventures with two 10-day and two 11-day Eastern Caribbean cruise from Tampa.

CMA CGM Improves ECS Service

CMA CGM is pleased to announce an improved service offer directly connecting North Europe with Central America. The enhanced ECS service will provide one of the shortest transit times on the market, linking Rotterdam from Costa Rica in only 14 days and adding London as a port of call in 15 days. This offer is dedicated to reefer transport from Central America and the Caribbean to North Europe and allows to connect the United Kingdom with all of the Caribbean through CMA CGM’s strategic hub in Kingston, Jamaica, one of the most modern ports in the area. Offered in cooperation with Hapag–Lloyd, the service will be run by five state of the art CMA CGM vessels with 2300 TEUs and 550 reefer plugs and one Hapag–Lloyd vessel.

Container Service to Connect Port Canaveral

GT USA, the US arm of UAE-based global ports and logistics company Gulftainer, announced the new ‘Blue Stream Service’, a weekly container cargo service connecting Port Canaveral to Europe, the French West Indies, and Central America. Blue Stream Service, operated by StreamLines, part of the SeaTrade Group, will provide refrigerated and dry container service to and from GT USA’s Canaveral Cargo Terminal, with a focus on fresh produce and perishable cargo. The Blue Stream Service will feature five ships with 1,300 TEU capacity and 250 reefer plugs on a weekly rotation. The new line will serve Central America to Port Canaveral in just three days and will offer the fastest transit time between Florida and Europe, just 11 days.

New Container Terminal Opens at Port Canaveral

The Canaveral Port Authority welcomes the start of StreamLine’s Blue Stream weekly liner service at its new Canaveral Cargo Terminal, which GT USA manages and operates. The service adds Port Canaveral to this valued trade route that includes Central America, Europe and the Caribbean. The first call at Canaveral is scheduled for January 31, 2016 with the arrival of the M/V Norderoog. StreamLines N.V. part of the Seatrade Group, is a container line providing refrigerated and dry container service specializing in fresh produce and perishables.

Crowley Adds 400 Reefer Containers

Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services group has added 400 new refrigerated (reefer) cargo containers to top off its fleet of equipment for service to its perishables customers in Central America and the Caribbean. All of the units are 40-foot high cubes, built to Crowley’s structural and security standards. “Putting these containers into service is part of our continued commitment to maintain the highest quality equipment for our customers just in time for the peak refrigerated shipping season,” said Steve Collar, senior vice president and general manager, international liner services. “Our expert staff continuously evaluates our fleet for its ability to meet the customer’s needs.

Crowley Adds 537 Refrigerated Containers

Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services group has added 537 new refrigerated (reefer) cargo containers to its fleet of equipment in an accentuated effort to serve the growing needs of its produce customers in Central America, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. All of the units received are 40-foot high cubes built to Crowley’s personalized standards. This recent acquisition will expand the fleet by 200 units in anticipation of market growth and will replace another 337 aging units.

Fairmount Alpine Towed Drifting MV Elbcarrier into Safety

Fairmount Marine’s tug Fairmount Alpine has towed MV Elbcarrier safely into a Guatemalan port after the vessel was drifting off the South-East Mexican isle Cozumel. The container vessel Elbcarrier got into troubles after motor failure. Fairmount Alpine was mobilized from the port of Kingston, Jamaica. The tug arrived at the location of the Elbcarrier within 36 hours and was able to connect in short time. Fairmount Alpine towed the Elbcarrier to Santo Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala. The voyage of just 321 nautical miles took only two days, with an average speed of 6.4 knots. The Elbcarrier is a 139.6 meters long German owned container vessel flying the flag of Antigua & Barbuda and build in 2007.

Crowley, Evergreen Ink Charter Agreement

Evergreen Line and Crowley Sign Slot charter Agreemnt for Weekly Service Between Florida, Panama and Costa Rica. Evergreen Line and Crowley Latin America Services have filed a slot charter agreement with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission that will allow Evergreen to provide northbound and southbound services to customers covering ports in Florida and Panama, a major transshipment hub for global trade, as well as Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. The weekly service for Evergreen customers includes sailings to and from Miami; Colon Container Terminal, an Evergreen-owned and operated facility in Panama, and Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. The service for Crowley customers is unchanged with weekly sailings to and from Port Everglades; Manzanillo, Panama; Puerto Limon and Santo Tomas, Guatemala.

South Atlantic Express Service Enhancements

Maersk Line announced the full extent of revisions to its current South Atlantic Express (SAE) service including the addition of calls to the Port of Savannah and the Port of Wilmington. This service also signals the initiation of Maersk Line service to the Port of Wilmington, North Carolina, with a four-day transit from Santo Tomas and full gate availability on Saturdays in Wilmington for pickup and deliveries. As previously announced, this weekly service reflects omission of the northbound call to Miami, and removal of service to the Port of Charleston from the schedule. The Miami adjustment will become effective with the sailing of the Maersk Tarragona, voyage 0908, departing Santo Tomas on 8 February 2009.

Crowley to Launch Third Sailing in U.S. Gulf

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced that its liner services unit will add a third, weekly, fixed-day sailing effective May 18 between Gulfport, Miss. and the Central America northern zone countries of Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador. Crowley had been serving the trade in the Gulf with vessels leaving Gulfport on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but will now sail on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. With this move, the Hansaland will join the Crowley Sun and the Ro/Ro Gothica to provide the third sailing. Ships in the northern zone service call in Santo Tomas, Guatemala and Puerto Cortes, Honduras. Overland service is provided to Nicaragua and El Salvador.

Crowley to Add RoRo to Central America Liner Services

To better serve shippers needing more vessel space and unsurpassed schedule integrity, Crowley Maritime Corporation's Latin America liner services unit will add a new larger, faster Ro/Ro ship to its Central America northern zone service effective Jan. 26. The Stena Shipper, a 19-knot ship with 150 FEU trailer spaces, will replace the M/V Tolosa, which can carry about 105 FEU trailers at 17 knots. She will initially be deployed in Crowley's U.S. East Coast - Central America northern zone service, which features four southbound sailings a week linking Port Everglades, Fla., with Santo Tomas, Guatemala and Puerto Cortes, Honduras. San Salvador, El Salvador and Managua, Nicaragua are served overland via Santo Tomas and Puerto Cortes respectively.

New Orleans Welcomes Norwegian Sun

Norwegian Sun entered the Port of New Orleans as the first cruise ship to homeport in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. The ship docked at the city's new $37 million Erato Street Terminal, which is designed to accommodate larger cruise ships. Norwegian Sun calls the Crescent City home for the winter season sailing seven-day exotic Western Caribbean cruise with ports of call including Costa Maya, Mexico; Santo Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala; Belize City, Belize and Cozumel, Mexico.
