With the Safety at Sea seminar in its wake, the Marion Bermuda Cruising Yacht Race team is taking last-minute registrations for the 645-mile ocean challenge. The Marion Bermuda Race offers an early registration discount to encourage early entries. That discount expires on Monday April 15th. Early entry saves $150.The race starts June 14th. There is still plenty of time for entry and preparation, but you’ll have to hurry.

The online version of the 2013 Marion Bermuda Race Book is now available here ( Within its colorful cover, a Willard Gordon Bond painting, are 98 pages of race stories, guides to the Marion area and Bermuda’s isles, tips on sailing this traditional ocean race, a land event schedule and the Notice of Race.

“One of the reasons we strive so hard to get this book published early (for delivery by March starting with SAS),” said Marketing Director Liz Stott, “is to help prep racers (and prospective racers) for an offshore passage/race. Not only is the book a great read, with stories of experiences shared by and about past participants, but it is also a preparatory tool. The advertisers enjoy early distribution, as well as the elegant feel of the book – it tends to remain on coffee tables for years – because they have many months of extended visibility in front of a key target audience. The online version makes the race information and colorful traditions available to thousands.”

“In this, the 37th year of the running of one of the premier ocean races in the world,” said Ray Cullum, Commodore of the Beverly Yacht Club, “the Officers, Council, members and Staff of the Beverly Yacht Club welcome you to our club and to the Town of Marion. We are your hosts and in that capacity we will do our best to help in your enjoyment of the 2013 Marion Bermuda Race.”

Allan Williams, Commodore of the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club added, “The Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club welcomes the 2013 Marion Bermuda Race sailors, families and friends. As co-sponsors with the Beverly Yacht Club and the Blue Water Sailing Club of Massachusetts, we are all proud and pleased to present the 19thedition of this prestigious race… it is our pleasure to be your hosts in Bermuda.”

Past Commodore of the RHADC Charles Dunstan announced a change in the social schedule that brings all of the race celebrations to the clubhouse and grounds on Hamilton Harbor. The Prizegiving and Gala Dinner will be held on the grounds of RHADC this year. The new management team at the club, led by our General Manager Allen Walker, and Chef John, are very keen to strut their stuff and show what they can do.  Depending on final entry numbers, the Prizegiving will be held on the upper terrace in front of the Club or on the lower lawn at dock level.  The Gala Dinner will be held on the Tennis Court, as it was in 2007.
