Kristen Orders Tankers From Hyundai Heavy

Kristen Navigation Inc. ordered three oil tankers from South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. for about $234m, Bloomberg reported. The three ships will each have a capacity of 159,000 deadweight metric tons and are due to be delivered in 2009. (Source: Bloomberg)

Daewoo Shipbuilding Wins $530M in Orders

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd has won orders from Norway and Greece worth $530 million. The shipbuilder secured an order from Norway's Odfjell Invest I Ltd to build a semi-submersible drilling rig and a deal from Kristen Navigation Inc of Greece to build a very large crude-oil carrier (VLCC), taking its order book to $2.29 billion so far this year. The company did not disclose the financial terms of the individual deals. It has set a full-year target of 10 bln usd for overseas orders. (Source: Forbes)

Daewoo Shipbuilding Wins Orders from Norway and Greece

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd has won orders from Norway and Greece worth $530M. The shipbuilder said it secured an order from Norway's Odfjell Invest I Ltd to build a semi-submersible drilling rig and a deal from Kristen Navigation Inc of Greece to build a very large crude-oil carrier (VLCC), taking its order book to 2.29 bln usd so far this year. Rutter Wins VDR Contracts

Rutter Technologies has won contracts to supply its Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) to the Norwegian Kristian Gerhard Jebsen (KGJS) fleet and to the Greek shipping group comprised of Kristen Navigation Inc., Anangel Maritime Services Inc, Alpha Tankers & Freighters International Ltd. Under two separate contracts KGJS will order 24 VDRs and the Greek fleet owners 56, for a total of 80 units. The VDR Market - International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations require certain classes of vessels to carry a voyage data recorder and Rutter estimates that there are 1,500 such vessels being built each year. Additionally, the IMO is requiring existing cargo vessels greater than 3,000 GT and travelling in international waters to be retrofitted with a VDR by 2010.
