MacGregor Wins Orders from Europe

MacGregor, the provider of maritime cargo and load handling services, has secured orders to provide MacGregor equipment to a European port development project and TTS products to a naval project.The orders has a total value of approximately EUR 8 million, said the Cargotec group company.The orders were booked into Cargotec's fourth quarter 2019 order intake, with deliveries planned to commence during the fourth quarter of 2020 and completed during the first quarter of 2022.A TTS technical solution is being applied to the port development project, and MacGregor’s strong position and references leveraged in the naval project.‘’This is an excellent example of the combined strength of MacGregor and TTS…

DCM Completes Rudder, Steering Work for Icebreaker

In an important milestone in the build of the Antarctic Supply Research Vessel (ASRV) Nuyina for the Australian government’s Antarctic Division, Damen Marine Components (DMC) has completed the supply and installation of a number of critical systems. These had to be fabricated to exceptionally high standards to cope with the ice that the vessel will encounter in the Southern Ocean. DMC, under its Van der Velden Marine Systems brand, is responsible for the detail engineering and manufacturing of the rudder and steering gear system.The rudders in particular are unique.

MacGregor Bags USD25Mln Worth Orders

Kyriacou to Lead De Nora's BWMS Unit

Electrochlorination equipment supplier De Nora announced that Dr. Stelios Kyriacou has been appointed as General Manager of its BALPURE Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) business unit. Dr. Kyriacou joins De Nora Water Technologies from Wärtsilä, where he managed the research, development, design and certification of the full Wärtsilä BWMS range. Summit Signs Floating LNG Facility Contract

Summit LNG Terminal, a subsidiary of Summit Power International, signed a USD 100 Million turnkey contract with marine work contractor consortium comprising of Geocean SAS and MacGregor for design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and testing of the Fixed Infrastructure (FI) for its Floating LNG Storage and Regasification Terminal (FSRT) at Moheskhali, Cox’s Bazar. The project completion date is 16 months from the time of signing. The Fixed Infrastructure will consist, among others, of Disconnectable Turret Mooring (DTM) plug for FSRU vessel system with anchors (suction piles), flexible riser with floatation and tether system, control and hydraulic umbilical, PLEM, Stern Mooring System (SMS) of FSRU vessel offshore pipelines and landfall works.

MacGregor Inks Deal to Service Teekay Vessels

MacGregor has signed a five-year frame agreement with Teekay Shipping Ltd to provide spare parts, maintenance, training and project support for approximately 115 of Teekay's vessels. The agreement was signed during the second quarter of 2017, and will see MacGregor, part of Cargotec, provide spare parts, maintenance, training and project support for hatch covers, hose-handling cranes, general-purpose cranes, offshore mooring/loading systems, deck machinery winches, steering gear and compressors on board Teekay vessels. “The business relationship with Teekay goes back to Pusnes and Hatlapa brands with separate types of agreements. When discussions first took place it was clear there was a tremendous spread of installed base,” said Steve Goodchild, UK Branch Manager.

Peter Döhle, MacGregor Sign 70-ship Service Deal

MacGregor has signed a three-year MacGregor Onboard Care (MOC) service agreement with the German shipping company, Peter Döhle Schiffahrts Group, for an annual inspection of deck machinery, steering gear and cranes on a mixed fleet of 70 vessels. The agreement became effective as of 1 January 2017. "Our commitment is to provide the operative availability of equipment and ensure sustainable ship operations and earning capabilities for these vessels," says John Carnall, Senior Vice President, Global Lifecycle Support, MacGregor. The MOC service contract will provide approximately 100 inspections of key MacGregor-delivered equipment each year, including Hatlapa steering gear and deck machinery as well as MacGregor cranes.

MacGregor in JV with China State Shipbuilding

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, and China State Shipbuilding Corporation's (CSSC) Nanjing Luzhou Machine Co Ltd (LMC) signed a joint venture contract  to form CSSC Luzhou MacGregor Machine Co Ltd. Subject to all relevant authority approvals, expected within this year, LMC will own 51 percent and MacGregor 49 percent of the new joint venture company. As a first step, the joint venture will cover the transfer of Hatlapa marine air compressor technology over a two-year period. CSSC Luzhou MacGregor Machine Co Ltd will be located in Nanjing and will have exclusive sales rights for the air compressors in China. Outside China, service, spare parts and new sales will be undertaken by MacGregor's established network.

MacGregor Solutions for LNG-powered Cruise Ships

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured orders for environmentally-friendly equipment for four next-generation eco-cruise ships which will be built in Germany and Finland. The vessels will be the first liquefied natural gas-powered cruise ships to enter the market. The orders were booked into first quarter 2016 order intake. "Cruise ships operate in some of the world's most fragile ecosystems and a rising demand from both authorities and operators requires that onboard systems are as environmentally-friendly as possible," says Lars Öberg, Sales Manager, RoRo at MacGregor. MacGregor deliveries include electrically-operated shell doors and electric frequency-controlled Hatlapa winches.

MacGregor Equipment for ESL's Eco-bulker Duo

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has confirmed an important order to deliver hatch covers, cranes, deck machinery and steering gear to two new 25,600 dwt dual-fuelled handysize bulk carriers for Finnish owner ESL Shipping. The ice-class vessels are the first to be built to new classification society rules introduced January 2016. The ships have been designed to set new standards in efficiency and environmental performance and introduce liquefied natural gas-powered bulkers to the market. For each vessel MacGregor will deliver three K3030-4 mechanical grab cargo cranes with a safe working load of 30 tonnes at 30m outreach, design and key components package for multi folding-type hatch covers (6+6), electrically-driven Hatlapa deck machinery and Porsgrunn steering gear.

MacGregor Strengthens its Heavy-lift Market Share

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has strengthened its position in the heavy-lift market by confirming an important new contract to deliver twelve 450-tonne capacity heavy-lift cranes for six Ecolift F900 vessels. The 13,300 dwt vessels are being built by two Chinese shipyards, Hudong and Huangpu Wenchong, for long-term charter to US operator Intermarine. Options remain for a further four vessels. The order was booked into fourth quarter 2015 order intake. "This is a significant contract for MacGregor, representing important next steps into the heavy-lift market," says Mattias Sundström, Sales and Marketing Director for General Cargo Ships at MacGregor. "MacGregor is also delivering deck machinery from our Hatlapa range, as well as the Porsgrunn steering gear for these vessels," he continues.

MacGregor to Lay Off 100 Staff

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, plans to reduce workforce in MacGregor Uetersen site in Germany to restructure the operations to the weak market demand. The market situation has deteriorated due to the low oil price and low number of new merchant ship orders. Ensuring competitiveness in the long-term over the current market cycle requires constant development of MacGregor's operations globally. MacGregor is planning to start capacity adjustment measures which are estimated to have an impact on approximately 100 employees at MacGregor Hatlapa GmbH & Co. KG in Uetersen by the end of 2015. The target is to reach annual savings of EUR 7 million as of 2016.

MacGregor Equipment Package for Chinese Bulkers

MacGregor informs it has secured an order to supply MacGregor equipment packages for two 38,000 dwt bulk carriers in China.   The order was booked into second quarter order intake and includes following equipment/ship: design and key components for hatch covers, deck cranes, electric deck machinery, steering gear and air compressor.   "Customers can benefit from MacGregor's extended portfolio, which now includes deck machinery, steering gear and air compressors from our Hatlapa range," said Sönke Tanz, Area Sales Manager, Auxiliary and Machinery Systems at MacGregor.

Cargotec Bags Daewoo's Deck Machinery Order

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed a major contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd in South Korea to supply a range of Hatlapa deck machinery for ten 172,600m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers. MacGregor will deliver electrically-driven deck machinery, windlasses and mooring winches, all optimised for operations in very low temperatures. Delivery is planned to start in 2017 and continue into 2018. "MacGregor was awarded the contract because it can deliver equipment that complies with the demanding technical requirements of operating in extremely cold conditions," says Alexander Nürnberg, Vice President for Auxiliary and Machinery Systems business at MacGregor. The LNG carriers will operate in the Yamal gas field on the Yamal Peninsula in the Russian Arctic.

MacGregor's Deck Equipment for Chinese Shipbuilder

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won a contract from Chinese shipbuilder Wuhu Xinlian to supply two complete deck equipment packages for a pair of 78m anchor handling, supply and oil recovery vessels. The MacGregor equipment will be installed on the 12,000 bhp, 150 tonne bollard pull vessels under construction for Sentinel Offshore (L) Limited. Equipment delivery is scheduled during August and September 2015. The contract follows a similar order from Wuhu Xinlian placed in August 2014, to supply full packages of MacGregor AHTS equipment for two 150 tonne bollard pull AHTS/oil recovery vessels. MacGregor Wins Fujian Southeast Shipyard Contract

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won a contract from Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China to supply deck equipment packages for two 78m anchor-handling/offshore support vessels under construction for Singapore-based Adhart Shipping Pte Ltd. The order was booked into fourth quarter 2014 order intake. The 12,000 bhp, 150 tonne bollard pull vessels are intended for operations in Asia/Pacific, the Middle East and West Africa. Delivery is scheduled for October and November 2015, with options for six further vessels. Each MacGregor equipment package includes a medium pressure anchor windlass/mooring winch, capstans, tugger winches, storage reels, a provisions crane and power packs.

MacGregor Bags Equipment Contract for 6 AH

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a major order from Kleven in Norway for six comprehensive deck handling equipment packages. They will be installed on six new-generation Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels for Maersk Supply Service. MacGregor's delivery of Triplex and Hatlapa products is planned to start in the last quarter of 2015 and run until the second quarter of 2017. The contract also includes options to equip an additional four vessels. The parties have agreed not to disclose the order value. MacGregor's Hatlapa Brand is 95 Today

November 2014 marks the 95th anniversary of MacGregor's Hatlapa brand. Since its foundation in 1919 by German engineer Max Hatlapa, the formerly independent Uetersen-based company has strived for engineering excellence. Last year, in recognition of these qualities and the benefits that Hatlapa offers, MacGregor purchased the company to complement its offering to the merchant shipping and offshore customers. MacGregor Reorganizes into 7 Operative Divisions
