Hearing to Address USCG Drug Interdiction Efforts

Hearing will examine U.S. Coast Guard’s efforts to stop drug smuggling into the U.S. The Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, chaired by U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), will hold a hearing next week on the U.S. Coast Guard’s and the federal government’s efforts to confront transnational drug smuggling and stem the flow of illegal drugs to the United States through maritime routes. The Subcommittee hearing, entitled, “Western Hemisphere Drug Interdiction Efforts,” is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in 2253 Rayburn House Office Building.

Hearing to Examine USCG's Missions

The Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, chaired by U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), will hold a hearing next week to examine how the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) allocates hours and resources among its multiple statutory missions, as well as how the Service measures mission performance. Hearing to Examine Status of US Merchant Marine

The U.S. Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, chaired by U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), will hold a hearing next week to examine issues impacting the U.S. merchant marine, the fleet of U.S. documented, or flagged, commercial vessels which carries imports and exports during peacetime and becomes a naval auxiliary to deliver troops and war materiel during wartime. US Hearing to Review Arctic Policy

US Hearing to Focus on New Ocean Technologies

The Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, chaired by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), will hold a hearing next week to examine the proliferation of new ocean technologies, how such technologies could improve government performance, and any impediments that exist in the use of such technologies. The federal government is responsible for recording, understanding, monitoring and protecting the oceans in the Exclusive Economic Zones which surround United States and territories out to 200 miles, and even in areas of the ocean beyond those littoral zones. Hearing: Environmental Regs’ Impacts on Maritime Transportion

The Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, chaired by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), will hold a hearing next week examining the impacts of federal environmental regulations on maritime transportation. This will be the second part of a two-part hearing to review the status and potential ramifications of recent or proposed regulations by the United States Coast Guard, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), and the Maritime Administration (MARAD). Part II will focus on environmental regulations, while Part I focused on safety and commercial regulations. Cummings Chairs Subcommittee Hearing on CG SAR

Congressman Elijah E. Cummings will chair a hearing of the Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, to review the Coast Guard’s Search and Rescue (SAR) Mission. The hearing will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2167. Rear Admiral Sally Brice-O’Hara, Deputy Commandant for Operations will represent the Coast Guard during the hearing. Reed Receives Herbert H. Bateman Award

The American Shipbuilding Association (ASA) announced that Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) is the 2009 recipient of the Herbert H. Bateman Award. Hearing on Piracy on the High Seas

Deepwater Topic of Congressional Hearing

CG Amendments Subject of Hearing

Representative Jo Ann Davis succeeded Congressman Herbert H. Bateman in representing the 1st congressional district of Virginia.
