Nordic Yards officially handed over the offshore service vessel to the Danish company DBB Jack-Up Services A/S. During the handover ceremony, the ship was named ‘WIND SERVER’.

“We are proud that with this innovative offshore vessel for DBB Jack-Up we have today successfully completed a further major project,” states Andreas Amelang, Senior Vice President Sales and Project Design at Nordic Yards, adding: “The ‘WIND SERVER’ is technically superior to conventional vessels and is able to operate under the most demanding weather conditions.”

The facilities with which the ‘WIND SERVER’ is equipped have been optimised to meet the current requirements of the offshore wind market. For example, the on-board crane of the 80 m long and 32 m wide ship has a lifting height of just under 100 m and a lifting capacity of 400 t. With its four 75 m long jack-up legs and innovative jack-up system it can position itself in depths of up to 45 m and forms a stable platform for the execution of maintenance and repair work even on large 5 to 8 MW wind turbines.

“We are very pleased to add this highly specialised jack-up vessel to our jack-up fleet, and we look forward to offering the vessel’s advanced services and capabilities to our customers,” says Thorsten Jalk, CEO of DBB Jack-Up Services A/S and adds: “The new jack-up vessel will be in operation from as early as January, maintaining offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.”

DBB Jack-Up is based in Aarhus, Denmark, and is an experienced and specialised service provider to the offshore wind industry, with its focus on service and maintenance of offshore wind turbines. The ‘WIND SERVER’ was commissioned by DBB Jack-Up in August 2012, with construction work beginning last April.
