Tuco Marine has launched two new search and rescue (SAR) vessel designs approaching next week’s Europort in Rotterdam.

The boats have been developed upon international requests and designed by a team of engineers in collaboration with naval experts. The SAR boats are covered, high speed crafts featuring different beams. One is optimized for a double outboard drive solution, based on the ProZero hull with a beam of 2.84 meters, making it an extremely effective hull with great maneuverability, according to Tuco. The beamier sister boat, features a full walk-around deck and a beam of 4.05 meters, offering the SAR crew safer side decks surrounded by full size safety railings, the designer said. This boat is equipped with an inboard diesel engine installation and waterjet propulsion.

Tuco said it has been working closely with SAR operators to help ensure that the boats fit the demands of the specific market. End users have therefore been closely involved in the design and layout of the SAR Boats.

Tuco Marine Group's ProZero range of boats offers deep V hull shapes, designed specifically for the military and coastguard sector, enabling the capability for high speeds, even in rough seas. ProZero boats are available in a number of variations tuned to suit the individual user’s particular requirements. The cockpit layout in the SAR boats is arranged to maximize the use of modern day SAR management and situational awareness electronic aids. The ProZero SAR boats have also been developed around the design team’s shock mitigation strategy.

The design is based upon reliability and easy service. The ProZero SAR boats can be rapidly reconfigured to meet different roles and requirements, which can include ambulance, fire support and command platform variants. Parameters like delivery time and customization according to customer demands are, during the design phase, a focal point, Tuco said, adding that the complete construction system behind the series is module based for easier adjustment and customization.
