A model of NYK Super Eco Ship 2030 will be displayed at Expo 2012 international exposition to be held in Yeosu, Korea, shortly
NYK is targeting the achievement of " zero emissions " by 2050 and have designed the concept ship NYK Super Eco Ship 2030 as a milestone for 2030 in cooperation with MTI (NYK's subsidiary technology institute),
Elomatic (a marine consulting company in Finland), and Garroni Progetti (an Italian ship designer) are working together to show that NYK is striving to develop technically in the long term and also to lead in future development of shipping operations, including cargo handling and traffic infrastructure.
The theme of the expo will be “The Living Ocean and Coast: Diversity of Resources and Sustainable Activities,” and the event will feature displays illustrating the progress and future prospects of maritime technology, a new growth driver for the advancement of humanity.
The Japan pavilion is being set up under the theme of "Our future is a tapestry of forest, village, and sea," and will emphasize the link that Japan has maintained among the country’s lush forests, vibrant villages, and the bounty of the ocean. In addition, actual events of last year’s Great East Japan Earthquake will be depicted in a fictional theatrical presentation featuring an animated boy and his community overcoming a natural disaster...
The Japan pavilion will also feature a model of NYK Super Eco Ship 2030, a concept ship that aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 69 percent through use of technologies available in 2030, and a video about the ship will be shown to highlight this eco-friendly cargo vessel for the next generation.
