GE Vernova to Equip UK FSS Ships with Hybrid-electric Propulsion

GE Vernova's Power Conversion business in the UK has been chosen by Team Resolute to supply advanced hybrid propulsion technology for three Fleet Solid Support (FSS) ships for the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD).Team Resolute is a consortium created by Spanish shipbuilder and defense company Navantia, shipbuilder Harland & Wolff and naval architects BMT to deliver the FSS program, for which Navantia UK, the UK subsidiary of Navantia, is prime contractor.The 216-meter-long ships for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) will be designed with an emphasis on minimizing carbon emissions.

ABB to Power Spanish Navy Submarine Rescue Vessel

Spanish Warship Set for Propulsion Refit

ABB said it has secured a contract with the Spanish state-owned Navantia shipbuilding company to retrofit the Spanish Navy flagship Juan Carlos I with an electrical propulsion system based on dual ABB Azipod units. U.S. shipyard General Dynamics NASSCO has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Navantia Seanergies, the green energy division of Spanish state-owned shipbuilder Navantia, in pursuit of opportunities in U.S. offshore wind.The partners will explore opportunities to manufacture components and assemble floating foundations for offshore wind projects in the U.S., leveraging Navantia's near decade of experience in offshore wind and the capabilities of the San Diego shipyard, as well as nearby port facilities and other locations for future offshore wind projects on the U.S.

BMT Inks Subcontract for the FSS with Navantia UK

BMT announced it has signed a subcontract with Navantia UK, formalizing its role in delivering the £1.6 billion Fleet Solid Support (FSS) program for the British Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA).Under the terms of the contract, BMT will be responsible for delivering critical design, through life support and training packages. For all three 216m long vessels for the RFA, BMT will be providing functional design but also services that will ensure the ships can operate efficiently, safely, securely and in line with environmental requirements.

Saudi Arabia Signs Deal with Navantia to Build Combat Ships

Navantia Taps Pemamek for Shipbuilding Production Lines

Navantia placed an order for the automated PEMA Panel Lines, Profile Processing Lines and Sub-Block Production Lines, designed to ensure that  Navantia Shipyards will have the latest laser-hybrid-based welding and robotic technology fully integrated to create the Shipyard 4.0 working environment. Spanish state-owned shipbuilder Navantia on Wednesday launched the first of five Avante 2200 corvettes it's building for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) for delivery through 2024.The five frigates were ordered in July 2018 for a cost of €1.8 billion ($2.1 billion), and first steel was cut for the series' first vessel in January 2019.Launched at the builder's San Fernando shipyard, the new vessel Al-Jubail has a length of 104 meters, a beam of 14 meters and will be able to accommodate 102 people (crew and additional personnel).

Final Windfloat Atlantic Floating Wind Turbine Heads Offshore

InfraStrata Joins Forces with Navantia

Shipbuilding: Navantia to build Five Navy Frigates

Spain's Navantia will build five F-110 frigates for the Spanish navy in a contract worth $4.9 billion. Navantia, which employs around 5,000 people, has in recent years racked up deep losses which reached 389 million euros in 2017.The government's representative in the Galicia region where the frigates will be built said the contract would create 1,300 direct jobs over nine years and as many as 5,700 more indirectly.Javier Losada, a member of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's Socialist party, said the contract would be approved on Friday during the weekly cabinet meeting.In April, Spain agreed to sell warships built at Navantia's yards to Saudi Arabia in a deal worth an estimated 1.8 billion euros.(Reuters)
