Furetank Transforms Former Office into Ship Sim Center

Furetank turned a former office building into a maritime educational center on Donsö outside Gothenburg: a state-of-the-art ship simulator complex for training, assessment and certification. Starting in the summer of 2023 it will be available for the shipping cluster on Donsö as well as external organizations.Furetank has ordered a large range of new-built vessels to be delivered in the coming years, and crewing these ships is a challenge. USCG Leadership Development Center Change of Command

The Coast Guard’s Leadership Develop Center will have its first change of command ceremony Thursday, July 31 at 11 a.m. in front of Yeaton Hall at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. The change of command ceremony provides a time-honored ritual that has remained essentially unchanged for centuries of naval history. Signifying the transfer of responsibility, authority and accountability to the assembled crew, the tradition represents the Coast Guard men and women who have stated the words and assumed the command. In following that tradition, New London native and the first Commanding Officer of the Leadership Development Center, Capt. Andrea M. Marcille, will be relieved by Capt. Gregory D. Wisener.

First NEEC Graduate Begins Work at NSWCCD-SSES

PHILADELPHIA - The first graduate of the Naval Engineering Education Center (NEEC) began work February 13 as a naval architect with Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division - Ship Systems Engineering Station's (NSWCCD-SSES) Advanced Machinery Systems Integration Branch in Philadelphia. The NEEC, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, was launched in July, 2010, to develop the talent of future naval engineers. The educational center was established through a $3.2 million contract award from the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), and provides young engineers and scientists access to projects of interest and importance early in their academic careers to build knowledge and enthusiasm for the field.

Donjon Marine Dredges for Intrepid Return

Donjon Marine dredges New York Harbor for the return and  re-entry of the USS Intrepid, a museum and educational center.

Donjon Marine, Co., Inc., was contracted by the U.S. Navy, Office of the Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV), as requested by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide dredging and related support services for the return of the Ex-USS Intrepid to its permanent berth located at Pier 86, Manhattan, New York. Transas Completes Installation at Meriturva

In July 2002, Transas completed the installation of a large-scale simulation complex at the Meriturva Seafarer Educational Center in Helsinki, Finland. The procurement of this state-of-the-art simulator complex was achieved within the framework of the debt of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Finland based on the Russian-Finnish Inter-governmental Agreement of November 2000. With enhanced ship handling and VTS operator training facilities, the Meriturva center becomes one of the largest maritime training establishments in Europe.
