Flynn Refrigeration Revamps Product Lineup

A new-look product line for 2017 from U.K. marine specialist Flynn Refrigeration aims to provide customers with an even broader offering of refrigeration and air conditioning products. Continually expanding its offering to the marine and industrial markets, the Birkenhead-based company said the latest relaunch is geared toward clearly defining its main product lines. Flynn Refrigeration's range has now been grouped into 18 core product categories sourced from more than 45 manufacturers including Bitzer, Danfoss, Compair and Ingersoll Rand.

Wassmer Named CEO at Kelvion

Roozendaal to head MacGregor Business Area

Michel van Roozendaal (M.Sc. Aerospace Engineering; MBA INSEAD, Fontainebleau; b. 1963) has been appointed President of the MacGregor business area. He will be a member of Cargotec's Executive Board and report to President and CEO Mika Vehviläinen. Michel van Roozendaal joins from Ingersoll-Rand where he has been heading the Thermo King Global Marine, Rail and Bus businesses. Prior to this he has held global general management roles with companies such as United Technologies, Danaher, JCI and Honeywell. With over 25 years in technology businesses with exposure to product development, manufacturing and sales, van Roozendaal has been responsible for delivering integrated solutions to customers in a variety of different fields. Jessup Appointed Sr.VP in Kalmar

Craig Jessup has been appointed Senior Vice President, Services in Kalmar, part of Cargotec. Craig joins Kalmar from Ingersoll Rand where he headed the Industrial Technologies parts and services business for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. Before Ingersoll Rand, Craig worked 21 years at ABB where he held a variety of leadership positions in the service business and was in charge of the global Services business of ABB's Robotics division as VP Customer Service as well as the Worldwide Head of Service Technology. Craig, who has both US and French citizenships, has lived and worked in several countries, including the USA, Canada, France, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Volvo Penta Americas Strengthens Leadership Team

Volvo Penta announced three key appointments to the newly formed Volvo Penta Region Americas organizational structure. This organizational realignment brings together all of North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean under a unified management structure. Customers, OEMs and dealers will see more direct and coordinated support within the Americas. The addition of the Latin America organization comes into effect Jan. 1, 2013. Julia Zelenock has been named director of marketing. She will be responsible for managing and implementing a strategic marketing plan that builds, promotes and communicates Volvo Penta’s brand, products and services in the marine and industrial market sectors.

Ingersoll Rand has announced the new Vortex VT22 turbine grinder. The Vortex VT22 turbine grinder features a 3HP turbine motor, making it the most powerful 5” air angle grinder available on the market today. The Vortex VT22 turbine grinder also boasts a complete list of additional features; including a spindle offset of only .89”, which allows a depth cut of up to 1.6”, a pivoting vibration-reduced side handle for reduced operator fatigue, an innovative spindle lock mechanism, and a sealed angle head for optimal gear life and performance. “Operators using the Vortex will be surprised at how powerful, versatile and accurate such a lightweight tool can be,” said Andrew Mandel, Global Portfolio Manager – Surface Prep and Construction Tools for Ingersoll Rand.

Doosan Infracore Supplies Airpac Bukom

Doosan Infracore Portable Power has supplied a multi-million pound fleet of new Ingersoll Rand Rigsafe portable air compressors to Airpac Bukom Oilfield Services, the oil and gas division of equipment rental group Vp plc. The major new investment by Airpac Bukom in air compression equipment from Doosan Infracore Portable Power has expanded the company’s equipment rental fleet to support the growing market for Well Test and high pressure pipeline requirements among customers worldwide.

Carrier Steam Turbine Contract Awarded

DRS Technologies, Inc. has been awarded a contract to continue to design advanced propulsion steam turbines for the U.S. Navy's next-generation CVN-78 class of aircraft carriers. The $5.6 million award was received by DRS from Dresser-Rand Company in Wellsville, New York, a unit of Ingersoll-Rand Company Limited (NYSE:IR). The design effort for this contract will be performed by the company's DRS Power Technology unit in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The main propulsion turbines to be manufactured by Dresser-Rand will be delivered to Northrop Grumman Newport News, in Newport, Virginia, by 2008. "DRS is a key supplier of power systems to the U.S.

Delivers First of Four to ConocoPhillips

Conoco, Inc's Domestic Marine Division, Houston, Texas has taken delivery of the first of four 75-ft. by 30-ft. by 10-ft. towboats that feature design, safety and environmental improvements over existing vessels working the inland waterways and the ICWW. Conoco, Inc., merged with Phillip Petroleum Company on August 30, 2002 to form ConocoPhillips a company with $75 billion in assets. The Conoco Marine Division has seven towboats and 14 barges. These 2,000 hp twin-screw vessels are being built by Orange Shipbuilding, Orange, Texas, a division of Conrad Industries of Morgan City, La. and will replace older vessels. Kane Appointed Pres. of Rolls-Royce Marine Electrical Systems Division

Rick Kane has been appointed as President of Rolls-Royce's new Marine Electrical Systems business. Kane was formerly President and Chief Executive of Raymarine Ltd, created when he led the management buy-out of Raytheon's recreational marine electronics business.A graduate in business studies from Suffolk University, Boston, MA, Kane initially spent nine years as a Supply Corp officer with the United States Navy before commencing his industrial career as a consultant with KPMG. Subsequently he has gained senior management experience in a number of companies including General Electric (aerospace), Ingersoll-Rand (construction and mining) and Raytheon (aerospace and marine).

Detyens Concludes Largest U.S. Conversion

In May Detyens Shipyard concluded the reactivation and conversion of the LNG carrier Galleoma (formerly Arzew), finishing what the yard termed the largest commercial reactivation and conversion in the U.S. this year. Located in Charleston, S.C., Detyens work on the technically challenging project helped to establish it as a competitive player on the world commercial ship repair market, and helped to re-enforce the notion that the LNG market in the U.S. is set for rapid expansion. "To be successful in the competitive world of ship repair we knew that we would have to start with small commercial repair jobs and work our way up to the larger, more complex jobs," said Loy Stewart, president, Detyens Shipyard.
