Drew Marine Begins Distribution Deal with ExxonMobil

Drew Marine said it has signed an agreement with ExxonMobil Marine Lubricants to expand the availability of ExxonMobil’s range of high performance lubricants. Drew Marine’s global supply chain will help ensure the availability of Flagship grades, including Mobil SHC Aware, to international vessel operators.The agreement covers a range of ExxonMobil’s synthetic marine industry lubricants. These include specific grades for compressors, hydraulic systems, gears, auxiliary engines and refrigeration plants. With this agreement in place, Drew Marine is now well-positioned to meet the most demanding lubricant applications.“Our global commercial and technical service personnel have a deep understanding of the needs of vessel operators,” said Frank J. Monteiro, President and CEO of Drew Marine.

VIKING Acquires Drew Marine's FSR Division

VIKING has acquired Drew Marine’s Fire Safety and Rescue (FSR) division.VIKING increases its global volume, reach and technical competencies for marine firefighting equipment services (MFS).At the moment, Drew Marine FSR provides services in more than 150 ports across 45 countries. The division offers a complete range of FSR services, specializing in solutions for fixed-firefighting foam, fixed-extinguishing and dry-powder systems – along with calibration solutions for gas detection, medical oxygen, and dry-docking services.

Wilhelmsen Group Income for 2Q up by 5%

The Wilhelmsen group delivers a slight increase in top line in the second quarter, mainly supported by higher operating revenue in supply services. The positive underlying market trends are expected to continue. The total income for the second quarter was USD 222 million, up 5% from the first three months of 2018.“We note that the positive development in top line in the first quarter continues into the second. Maritime services deliver stable revenue, while supply services record improved income following a seasonal upswing and property sales gains in NorSea Group,” says Thomas Wilhelmsen, group CEO at Wilhelmsen.EBITDA was nil for the quarter.

Wilhelmsen Drops Acquisition of Drew Marine

A US District Court for the District of Columbia announced that it will grant the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) motion for an injunction to block Wilhelmsen’s acquisition of Drew Marine Technical Services.Consequently, Wilhelmsen and Drew have agreed to abandon the transaction.“We disagree with the views of the US competition authorities. This would have been an important strategic investment for our group, which we believe would have meant better services and better prices for our customer. We are therefore disappointed that we will not be able to bring the deal to a close,” says Thomas Wilhelmsen, group CEO in Wilhelmsen.Wilhelmsen and Drew have agreed on a termination fee of USD 20 million.

U.S. Sues to Stop Wilhelmsen From Buying Rival Drew Marine

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission said on Friday it would challenge in court the Norwegian company Wilhelmsen Maritime Services' plan to buy smaller U.S. rival Drew Marine Group. The FTC said the $400 million proposed deal would reduce competition in the market for marine water treatment chemicals, used in a ship's boiler water and engine cooling water systems. If Wilhelmsen closed the deal with New Jersey's Drew Marine, the FTC said the company would have 60 percent of the market for marine water treatment chemicals, while its closest competitor would have 5 percent. "We disagree with the FTC's evaluation and will continue to work towards a positive outcome," Wilhelmsen spokeswoman Benedicte Teigen Gude told Reuters.

RSC Bio Solutions and Drew Marine announced a new global marine distribution partnership that has expanded the global availability of RSC Bio Solutions’ range of EALs. RSC FUTERRA HF Series renewable hydrocarbon hydraulic fluids are Ecolabel certified and formulated to withstand extreme conditions and corrosion while operating in severe environments. Available in 46, 68 and 100 viscosity grades. Typical applications include stern tubes, controllable pitch propellers, stabilizers and various deck equipment.

Wilhelmsen Acquires Drew Marine Technical Solutions

The Wilhelmsen group has signed an agreement to acquire the technical solutions business from Drew Marine. “This acquisition offers a unique opportunity to enhance the scale and geographic reach of our marine products division,” said Wilhelmsen group CEO, Thomas Wilhelmsen. The acquired business will be brought into Wilhelmsen Ships Service. As part of the transaction, the business, people and competence in Drew Marine Technical Solutions will be transferred to Wilhelmsen. Approximately 400 Drew Marine employees will join Wilhelmsen Ships Service upon completion of the transaction.

ACR Electronics Turns 60

Drew Marine Acquires NAL Research Corporation

Drew Marine, a provider of technical solutions and services for the maritime, defense and aviation industries, announced its acquisition of NAL Research Corporation, a designer and manufacturer of Iridium tracking and communications equipment. The financial terms of the acquisition were not released. NAL Research will team up with ACR Electronics, Inc., a brand of Drew Marine known as a leader in safety and survival technologies. A strategic alliance between Choice Ballast Solutions and Drew Marine has been formed to provide vertically integrated capabilities within the ballast water treatment (BWT) market. Drew Marine Gets Navy Worldwide MSC Supply Contract

In the latest listing of US Department of Defense, Navy, contracts Drew Marine USA has been awarded a one-year option for the worldwide supply, delivery and services for shipboard chemical treatment; foam testing, supply and disposal; industrial gases; and refrigerants for all U.S. naval ships of Military Sealift Command (MSC) and any other vessel specifically identified by MSC. Department of Defense state that Drew Marine USA, Inc., Whippany, N.J., is being awarded a $9,202,490 modification under a previously awarded indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with firm-fixed-price delivery orders as above. The contract specifies that work will be performed worldwide and is expected to be completed November 2014.
