Drydocks World Wins Dubai Chamber CSR Label

Drydocks World group the leading provider of maritime and offshore services to the shipping, oil, gas and energy sectors has received the Dubai Chamber Corporate Social Responsibility Label in recognition of their efforts and contribution to excellence in various areas of social responsibility. This award honors Drydocks World’s integrated approach that incorporates economic, environmental, and societal imperatives to create a thriving workplace and community.

The organization applies international best practices in the provision of health and safety, as well as providing charitable support to help the less fortunate in the region and the world. Drydocks World has covered diversified areas in social responsibility, including workplace, marketplace, community and environment.

The awards ceremony held on April 26th at Dubai Chamber’s Conference Room, awarded valued recognition to Drydocks World’s efforts and excellence initiatives in social responsibility. Drydocks World won this award for the second time, reflecting the organization’s commitment to fulfill their social responsibilities in a continually sustainable manner. With the launch of numerous initiatives which include a wide range of activities in charities, sports associations, the environment and cultural initiatives, Drydocks World has integrated principles of social responsibility and sustainability within the company’s strategy, in conjunction with expanding business activities. This approach confirms the vision Drydocks World maintains towards being an active participant serving the community.

The organization has established a policy aimed at strengthening capabilities and potential to fulfill social responsibilities and to develop an annual plan of sustainable procurement. This plan guides Drydocks World in achieving goals of social responsibility, promoting the reduction of environmental damage, in providing services and in building global projects that take into account the community and the surrounding environment.

In the context of Drydocks World’s roles and social responsibilities, the group presented its financial contribution to the campaign, "UAE WATER AID" launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the first day of the Holy month of Ramadan 2014. This donation and campaign are geared towards providing fresh drinking water for five million people around the world who suffer from shortages of potable water, providing a salient life source to those in need.

In the same context, the group co-sponsored the Omega Dubai Desert Classic tournament in 2015, in partnership with the Golf in Dubai foundation during January 2015, and also provided full sponsorship to Rashid Al Dhaheri, the youngest Emirati driver to consistently compete at the highest levels and win international races on professional karting circuits in his age category.

Drydocks World has initiated various activities closely related to social responsibility, including the use of recycling waste, launching initiatives to conserve energy consumption and the use of environmentally friendly chemical elements in the production processes. In addition Drydocks World positions the well-being of employees as the utmost priority, encouraging employees to engage in the spirit of social responsibility in the various activities and businesses.
