Five Killed Aboard Dubai-bound Tankship

November 7, 2012

A leaking pipe in the compressor room of the tankship 'MV Maharshi Krishnatreya' on passage from Mangalore caused the accident.

Five sailors were killed and another injured after a gas leak on the tanker, reports The National.

The vessel's chief officer, gas engineer, a bosun and three seamen were repairing a damaged pipe on the liquified petroleum gas carrier when they inhaled the poisonous gas. The injured sailor was in a critical condition at a hospital in Gujarat.
