The Marcura Group Acquires ShipServ

The Marcura Group signed a definitive agreement to acquire ShipServ, a maritime online procurement platform and marketplace. ShipServ’s 126 employees will come together with Marcura’s 850 to serve a combined customer base of 800 maritime customers and a network of 47,000 maritime suppliers globally. ShipServ will continue to operate as a separate company, maintaining its own brand identity.The acquisition has been overseen by Marlin Equity Partners, a global investment firm with over $8.9 billion of capital under management, that made a growth equity investment in Marcura in August 2022.

Maritime e-procurement platform ShipServ said it has made new appointments at an executive management level, setting out to develop and deliver a range of new products and features in 2018 to help customers realize the opportunities of increased digitalization within the shipping industry. Navigator Gas Signs up for ShipServ

Navigator Gas, one of the world’s largest LPG vessel operators, has recently signed up to use ShipServ for all its procurement activities. The London-headquartered company recently took its ship management activities in-house based out of its Polish office in Gdynia and is now managing three vessels from Poland. The procurement tools and services available to Navigator Gas include ShipServ’s SpotSource and Supplier Recommendations service. The LPG operator will also use ShipServ’s range of purchasing KPIs based on the trading activities of more than 9,000 vessels.

BW Fleet Management Selects MarineLink

Oslo based BW Fleet Management have chosen to sign a 3 year “BuyerLink” Service contract with EVRY, to use the MarineLink Service and run in parallel with their other eCommence providers who integrates directly with their Oracle EBS Purchasing application. BW Fleet Management has used the MarineLink service for many years for transactions with Wilhelmsen Ships Service, Alfa Laval and engine manufacturer Wärtsilä. However, this year they decided to split their eCommerce between two service providers, MarineLink from EVRY, being one of the winning suppliers. Head of Global Purchasing at BW, Tor-Egil Gjulem says,  "We have used the MarineLink service for many years, along with ShipServ.

ShipServ opens Singapore office

ShipServ, the leading marine and offshore marketplace with an expected annual trade of $3bn in 2015, has cemented its position in Asia with the opening of a new office in Singapore. The office will be managed by ShipServ’s VP of Sales Sharon Gill and will be open for business from July 1st. “We are very excited to get much closer to one of the biggest and most vibrant shipping markets in the world and will look to increase our already substantial customer base in the region,” said Kim Skaarup, Chief Operating Officer of ShipServ. Singaporean owners, managers and shipyards currently using ShipServ include Keppel Shipyard, Thome Ship Management, EMAS AMC, MOL Shipmanagement and American Eagle Tankers. There are also 4000 Singaporean suppliers on the platform.

AET Sign Up for ShipServ TradeNet Services

ShipServ, a leading marine and offshore e-marketplace, has been contracted by tankship operators AET to provide  procurement software services for its fleet operations. AET will connect to ShipServ through its current ABS Enterprise system software suite. Xantic Integrates Further Into E-procurement

Xantic has signed major cooperation agreements with ShipServ and iShipExchange for integration of their E-procurement portals into Xantic's AMOS Maintenance & Purchase solution. The required software drivers to seamlessly integrate the AMOS software and the two portals will be distributed among all AMOS M&P E-commerce licences. ShipServ (www.shipserv.com) now provides an end-to-end web-based procurement applications supporting both ship managers and suppliers in the maritime industry. After several months of testing and running real transactions with select beta customers, ShipServ opened for business on July 24, signing up ship managers and suppliers for its services. E-Business: Growing in Maritime Industry

E-business means doing business on the Internet. This can include any business process - to include buying and selling, which is known as E-commerce. The arranging for transport by sea or the buying and selling of things needed for ships that sail from port to port are among the world's oldest professions. Many ship owners, operators or managers still conduct business the old-fashioned way, building and maintaining close and longstanding relationships with suppliers or customers. While the dot-com craze of a few years ago has passed, E-business is revolutionizing several important business processes in the maritime industry. Computers can aid in the design and construction of vessels, and the Internet can be used to transmit design information and changes instantaneously.

Nor-Shipping Roundup: Stepping Out in Oslo

The Nor-Shipping Exhibition concluded June 6, 2003. Following were some of the major announcements during the week in Oslo. Kongsberg won a contract for the control systems for four LNG tankers scheduled to be built in Japan. The ships will carry LNG from the Snohvit field to the U.S., Spain and France. Two of the ships are being built for Hoegh shipping lines at Mitsubishi Shipyards, while the other two are being built at the Mitsui and Kawasaki shipyards. Kelvin Hughes was awarded type approval for its ECDIS-based Track Control System. This is the first Approval of its type to be granted by LR and covers the integration of the company's ECDIS and Autopilot products into a system meeting the new IEC 62065 track control performance standard.

ShipServ’s e-procurement Solutions Expand

ShipServ announced that Chevron Shipping Company and Seabulk International have contracted to conduct their procurement business via ShipServ’s TradeNet trading platform. ShipServ established a foothold in North America, by adding a number of blue chip clients and breaking into new sectors such as LNG, cruise ships etc. Chevron Shipping, San Ramon, California, signed on its tanker fleet currently at 25 ships, including the, Northwest Swan, an LNG vessel operated by an affiliate of Chevron Shipping on behalf of the North West Shelf Venture Gas Project. Seabulk International, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who operate one of the largest USA tanker fleets, will use TradeNet for all purchasing for their fleet of ten petroleum product and chemical tankers.

RoRo Operator Joins ShipServ

Grimaldi Group Naples, has become ShipServ's 53rd member. They are also its first Italian shipping company client. Grimaldi Group Naples, which includes Grimaldi Compagnia di Navigazione, Atlantica di Navigazione, INARME, Malta Motorways of the Sea and Atlantic Container Line, has 47 vessels with another 12 on order. The Group is known for its purchasing organization and procedures, which has enabled it to achieve substantial efficiencies over the years. Grimaldi is a long time user of SpecTec AMOS Maintenance & Purchase system and it is the first SpecTec client to become a member of ShipServ TradeNet since SpecTec and ShipServ announced their new partnership in March.
