Gulf of Mexico: HWCG, Helix Extend Fast Oil Spill Response Agreement

Helix Energy Solutions Group has entered into a new agreement for offshore oil spill response resources with HWCG, a consortium of deepwater oil and gas companies in the Gulf of Mexico who have come together with the shared goal of quickly responding to offshore oil spills.Under the agreement, HWCG’s members are given the opportunity to identify the Helix Fast Response System as a response resource in permit applications to U.S. federal and state agencies, and to deploy the Helix Fast Response System to respond to a well control incident in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

New Rexroth Facility Offers Hydraulics Training

Training for hydraulics and controls technologies used in marine, offshore and industrial applications is now available through the newly opened Rexroth Technology and Service Center at 10305 Round Up Lane in Houston, Texas. Comprehensive, five-day classroom courses will be offered by qualified Bosch Rexroth experts on the Principles of Hydraulics (POH) covering fluid flow dynamics, controls, pumps, valves, motors schematics, maintenance and more. Customized training courses and on-site training are also available depending on customer needs.

Aker Solutions Acquire UK Subsea Company

Aker Solutions has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Aberdeen-based Enovate Systems Ltd. Enovate Systems Limited is a leading technology company within the subsea well control equipment sector. The financial details of the acquisition are undisclosed. Enovate, which currently employs 62 people, has developed a wide range of unique and patented components and products for use in open water workover systems, in riser workover systems, rigless intervention systems and drilling safety systems. Specific advantages are superior cutting and sealing capabilities and the unique use of complete metal-to-metal sealing solutions which significantly reduce the probability of leakage and improve safety.

OceanWorks Receives Highest Marks from USN

OceanWorks International has again been authorized by the U.S. Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Note 5000 to perform Deep Submergence Systems Scope of Certification (DSS SOC) work in support of designated submarine rescue and intervention systems. The authorization is a renewal of the existing Note 5000 authorization which has been held by OceanWorks International since September 8th, 2011. OceanWorks International again receives authorization from U.S. Navy to perform Deep Submergence Systems Scope of Certification (DSS SOC) work. OceanWorks International has again been authorized by the U.S. Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Note 5000 to perform DSS SOC work in support of designated submarine rescue and intervention systems. The authorization is a renewal of the existing Note 5000 authorization which has been held by OceanWorks International since September 8th, 2011.
