Electric Boat Wins $300 Mln Virginia-class Submarine Contract

US-based General Dynamics subsidiary Electric Boat won a contract for more than $300 million to maintain design and engineering specifications for Virginia Class submarines, the US Department of Defense said in a press release. "Electric Boat has secured a one-year, $300.6 million contract to provide lead yard services and support development studies and design efforts for the U.S. Navy‘s Virginia-class submarines," says the release. The Defense Department said that Electric Boat Corp. will help the military branch maintain and update the design and related drawings and data of each submarine under the Virginia class throughout the construction process and post-shakedown availability period.

GD Electric Boat Gets Potential US$1.5-Billion Navy Contract

The Department of Defense informs that General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Connecticut, is being awarded a $234,229,426 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for design agent, planning yard, engineering and technical support for active nuclear submarines. This contract includes options, which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $1,537,500,654. affordability/cost reduction technical support. Work will be performed in Groton, Connecticut (73 percent); Bangor, Washington (9 percent); Norfolk, Virginia (6 percent); Newport, Rhode Island (4 percent); Quonset, Rhode Island (3 percent); Kings Bay, Georgia (3 percent); and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (2 percent), and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2015.

Electric Boat Awarded Submarine Repair Contract Modification

US Department of Defense informs that a $9,048,214 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to the previously awarded contract (N00024-13-C-4308) has been awarded to General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Connecticut. The contract is to incrementally fund previously exercised options to provide non-nuclear submarine repair work on Groton-based submarines under the New England Maintenance Manpower Initiative (NEMMI). Under the terms of the contract, Electric Boat Corp., will provide NEMMI tasks in support of non-nuclear maintenance, modernization and repair of operational nuclear powered submarines, floating dry docks, support and service craft, and plant equipment assigned to the Naval Submarine Support Facility New London.

Amongst the latest listing of US Department of Defense, Navy contracts, GD Electric Boat is awarded a contract to provide submarine repairs. General Dynamics, Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is awarded an $11,000,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to the previously awarded contract (N00024-13-C-4308) to incrementally fund previously exercised options to provide non-nuclear submarine repair work on Groton-based submarines under the New England Maintenance Manpower Initiative (NEMMI).

BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards Alabama LLC, Mobile, Ala., is being awarded a $32,946,457 firm-fixed-price contract for the regular maintenance and overhaul of USNS Supply (T-AOE 6). This contract includes two additional options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of the contract to $42,499,988. Work will be performed in Mobile, Ala., and is expected to be completed by October 2014. Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, is being awarded a $23,124,445 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-12-C-2313) to exercise options for DDG 51 class lead yard services.

General Dynamics Awarded Navy Nuclear Propulsion Contract

Amongst the latest Ministry of Defense, Navy, contracts, General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is awarded an $18,195,519 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-12-C-2100) for reactor plant planning yard services for nuclear-powered submarines and support yard services for the Navy's moored training ships. The contract requires General Dynamics to furnish, fabricate, or acquire such materials, supplies and services as may be necessary to perform the functions of the planning yard for reactor plants and associated portions of the propulsion plants for nuclear powered submarines. Work will be performed in Groton, Conn. (95 percent), and Charleston, S.C. (5 percent), and is expected to be completed by September 2014.

US Department of Defense contracts issued include a US Army Corps of Engineers, New York District dredging contract, for Great Lakes Dredge and Dock. Secondly a Navy contract to Electric Boat Corp. for work related to Virginia-class submarines. Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company LLC, Oak Brook, Ill., was awarded a firm-fixed-price, option-eligible, non-multi-year contract for $20,684,610 for the New York and New Jersey 50-foot Harbor Deepening Project and shoal removal. Performance location will be Staten Island, N.Y., Bayonne, N.J., and Elizabeth, N.J., from fiscal 2013 other authority funds. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - New York District, New York, N.Y., is the contracting office (W912DS-13-C-0045).

Latest DofD Navy Contracts

Navy contracts have been awarded, amongst others, to Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. to provide LCS mission modules, and to Electric Boat Corp. for Virginia-class submarine spare parts manufacture and procurement. Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., Bethpage, N.Y., is being awarded a $25,272,171 modification under previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-6311) to provide three mission modules, support containers and engineering and production planning services for mission packages that will deploy from and integrate with the littoral combat ship. Work will be performed in Huntsville, Ala. (48 percent); Portsmouth, Va. (30 percent); Bethpage, N.Y. (18 percent); Manchester, N.H. (2 percent); and Hollywood, Md. (2 percent), and is expected to be completed by September 2015.

GD Gets Additional Award for Work on 'USS Hartford'

U.S. Department of Defense awards a firm-price-fixed modification contract to General Dynamic for  maintenance & modernization of the submarine. General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $9,504,885 firm-fixed-priced modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-12-C-4301) for the execution work necessary to prepare and accomplish maintenance and modernization work of the fiscal 2013 dry-docking selected restricted availability of the submarine USS Hartford (SSN 768). This scope of work encompasses required maintenance activities necessary to maintain full unrestricted operation of the submarine, as well as upgrades and modernization efforts required to ensure the submarine is operating at full technical capacity.

The Department of Defense anounce contract awards to Huntington Ingalls, Lockheed Martin, & Electric Boat. Huntington Ingalls Inc., Newport News, Va., is being awarded an $18,232,027 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-08-C-2110) for special tooling, special test equipment, and supplier related vendor support services supporting the Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) construction. The work will be performed in Newport News, Va., and is expected to complete in September 2015. Fiscal 2011 Shipbuilding and Conversion, Navy funding in the amount of $18,232,027 will be obligated at time of award. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Electric Boat Awarded US52M Navy Contract

The US Navy contract is for the planning and execution of the 'USS Mississippi'  (SSN 782) post shakedown availability (PSA). The $51,687,173 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract is a modification to previously awarded fixed-price-incentive contract (N00024-03-C-2101). Electric Boat Corp., will perform planning and execution efforts, including long lead time material procurement, in preparation to accomplish the maintenance, repair, alterations, testing, and other work on SSN 782 during its scheduled PSA. Work will be performed in Groton, Conn., (99 percent) and Quonset Point, R.I., (1 percent) and is expected to be completed by December 2013. Funding in the amount of $51,687,173 will be obligated at time of award. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

Electric Boat Awarded $78 Million Contract for Submarine Components

Electric Boat Corp. is being awarded a $78,089,000 undefinitized contract action for long-lead-time material associated with the fiscal 2014 Virginia class submarine (SSN 792). This contract provides long-lead-time material for steam and electric plant components, the main propulsion unit efforts and ship service turbine generator efforts, and miscellaneous hull, mechanical and electrical system components to support SSN 792 ship construction beginning in fiscal 2014. Work will be performed in Sunnyvale, Calif. (60 percent); Coatsville, Pa. (10 percent); Tempe, Ariz. (5 percent); Groton, Conn. (3 percent); Newport News, Va. (3 percent); and other efforts performed at various sites throughout the United States (19 percent). Work is expected to be completed by January, 2013.

Electric Boat Wins Navy Order

Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $16,620,037 cost-plus-fixed fee order under previously awarded basic ordering agreement (N00024-10-G-4314) to support nuclear carrier repair work at Norfolk Naval Shipyard during on-going availabilities. This contract is for skilled tradesmen support to two chief of naval operations carrier maintenance availabilities. Scheduled to undergo repairs include USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77). Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is scheduled to be completed by July 2012. This contract is for skilled tradesmen support to four chief of naval operations submarine maintenance availabilities scheduled to be performed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Ships scheduled to undergo repairs include USS San Juan (SSN 751); USS Pasadena (SSN 752); USS Miami (SSN 755); and USS Virginia (SSN 774). Electric Boat Wins $174m Navy Deal

Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $174,486,588 cost-plus-fixed-fee option under existing contract (N00024-10-C-2118) for additional lead-yard services, development studies, and design efforts related to Virginia-class submarines. The contract provides lead, lead-yard services for Virginia-class submarines that will maintain, update, and support the Virginia-class design and related drawings and data for each Virginia-class submarine, including technology insertion, throughout its construction and post-shakedown availability period. The contractor will also provide all engineering and related lead-yard services necessary for direct maintenance and support of Virginia-class ship specifications.
